Defintely post worthy as we get closer to 100% paid => turbos start shipping.

Always amazes me how much people send on cosmetic upgrades but then think $850 for a bigger turbo is a lot of money, when they spent more on their wheels.

LOL right! plus, life throws too many curve balls to make a commitment (financial) that you can't keep in the present time. if you can't throw down a grand now, then don't assume you can throw it down tomorrow. I'm not saying you can't plan or save money. but a grand (much less 850) is not astronomical. and before people call me insensitive, I see the signatures on here. everyone has dropped 800-1k on wheels or tune and DP if not well over 1k on FBO.

To play devil's advocate - lets say the guy who hasn't paid just didn't sign up at all, we'd still be at 9 out of 10. so perhaps my first point is moot. and if he comes through we'll all be stoked he did. lol.

whatever, im just over analyzing because I want to talk more about this turbo.

MN guys should get together! i'm willing to help and share in any way I can once these things come in.

I would jump in on and would've when the last two spots backed out a week or so prior to the list being "finalized" a week or two back...that being said, am I the only one who would prefer my dealer carry out the n55 vanos recall prior to doing a turbo swap? Not from a mechanical perspective but bringing in my car to the dealer for work more invasive than an oil chance with an aftermarket turbo makes me uneasy. I understand it looks the same from the outside but it's not always so simple.

I WILL be getting this turbo...but if I wanted to jump on the group buy I would have to effectively eat the core charge. At the rate BMW is moving the on the recall it will be in the fall, and to first put on this turbo going into the NY winter doesn't make sense for me.

This turbo is a great bargain at 850, and its still a great bargain at 1000. The 150 wont make or break me but its a nice discount. Pure, how long is the core exchange valid for? I can close out the group buy if the 10th backs out or takes too long potentially, don't need to wait for next paycheck but need to know it to make sense logistically for me.

The only thing the dealer could possibly see is a slightly enlarged turbo opening if they took the intake off the turbo. No dealer is going to be looking for that. Of all the things I have done to my car, this is the one I am least worried about the dealer finding out about.
