I'm not sure to be honest... The shop that installed it got pretty close to what I was looking for, but I kept messing with it after I got it home until it looked good.

Pictures! This is Dave (Babino)'s wifes Audi A4. Spent about 12 man hours on it, and We think it turned out very well. Washed it with hot soft water twice, clayed the bad areas, cleaned the wheels inside and out, wheel wells, polished all of the car... (I got to use the buffer! The little guy as Pat called it) Applied a Glaze, Then the Full Metal Jacket sealant. Applied the tire shine and this was the result.

As always, Fantastic work Pat. Every time I see what you do I am amazed! Working in that garage I am always learning things, and hope to have the knowledge to carry on the business when he dies... Joking!

Just saw the latest news on ECU flash for the N52 - $499 gets you 6whp and 9wftlb torque. Sheesh, I'm glad I bought the N54.

On a brighter note, I got the DCI installed last night. I did the scoops too. Wow, it really made a noticable difference. I wanted to think I wouldn't notice anything, but it was pulling even stronger than usual today. YEAH!!

Question for the detailing guys. How many times can you polish a car? I was thinking I would try to take care of the flaws that Pat was unable to remove. As far as I know, the car has only been polished once. Thanks in advance!

With out a paint gauge I was to scared to get to aggressive to try to get the deeper scratches out. When we did your car we were pulling a lot of as I call it....dead paint off the car. That is were your pad turns the color of the car. Every time you polish a car you are taking microns of clear coat off. Depends on how aggressive you polish a car but you can polish a few times a years.

Just be careful

Thanks for the info Pat. I have another question. How does dead paint work (i.e. pads take on the color of the car)? I know that paint is first bonded to the substrate with the primer, then sealed, and then the color is applied followed by the clear. I don't understand how any color would be transferred to the pad during polishing. Isn't it the clear that is being polished while working on scratches? I'm glad to have you as a reference to prevent me from fubaring my paint job

Adam's car looks bad ass. I hope when I finish my car (some day I will actually start it) it will look as good.

The clean cars look great. Hopefully Lindsay will get ours down there and it will look that good.

Hope you all are doing well and that the snow is slowing down for you.

Take care and I will talk to you all soon.

Did some research on your car Jay. Nogaro Red is a three stage paint job. This means it has a tinted clear coat. The color I got on my pads was from the tinted clear coat I was pulling off as I buffed.

So to me the problem you can run into if you buff to deep is you would have a hard time telling if you go through the clear coat.

It's fun to learn new things.
