Sure, far as I know, these have no recalls, issues, or reported problems. I don't think there has even been a service bulletin issued on them ever!

My questions still remains is there any BMW vehicle which is trouble free with no recalls?

i'd rather have my car run away than having my hpfp fail repetitively
at least the chance of a toyota running away is 1/100,000+
if i had to give a pecentage of 335i's with hpfp failures, i'd say 150%+ just because so many of us have had multiple replacements

Just took in my car for a service and made an appt for next week for my her to have a HPFP replaced. we will see what cracks.

Actually several people did die from their Toyota's and lexus acceleration problems. Just read the other day about a police officer and two other people that died from those car problems.

Man, I own a IS350; there is absolutely nothing wrong with "unintended acceleration" or "no braking" in those cars. IMHO..the government blew that out of proportion, but it didn't help that the government owned GM too.

IS350 Total Time In Shop- "one day" for new pedal and software upgrade...and a warning not to put a weather mat overt op my normal floor mat like the guy in the totaled Lexus. That was "one day" for two years for service mandated maintenance.

Toyota Truck (Tacoma)- no days in the shop

BMW- Days in the shop- I quit counting after 2 months

I am happy BMW is finally troubleshooting the issue; lawsuits suck I guess. I think BMW is smart to get all of the cars with the same parts specs installed. It should create a baseline to actually determine what the root cause is.

And it finally happened! Got the dreaded half engine light and reduced power this morning. No signs or symptoms to speak of... started, ran, idled, and drove fine up until that point. Reprogramming was done last December but nothing else was touched. Original fuel pump. Car's at the dealer but haven't heard an official diagnosis as of yet..


update: Replaced 2 injectors PN 13-53-7-585-261 SIB # 13 14 10
Replaced Fuel HPFP PN 13-51-7-616-446 SIB 13 13 10.

What chaps my a## is the last time I was in and got the software update I had both of those SIB's printed out and basically said.. what about these?? I got some bullsh#t answer and nowa few months later I have to drive the hour to the dealer in limp mode. Is it a recall if they wait for it to fail to fix it?

You need to go research a bit more because that "sudden acceleration" wasn't due to stuck gas pedal, it was because of the wrong floor mat being used in their rental car. That and read this:

I don't understand why there is such a variance in the customer-focus of BMW dealers. Doesn't the corporation have any standards that they hold their dealerships to? In my (fortunate?) case, I brought my car in for normal servicing a couple of weeks ago - they noted that the car was also due for a software update and an HPPF replacement under the recall - so they did all that, in addition to the normal service. And I complained about the roundel emblem on the steering wheel hub looking schizzy, so they replaced that also (which required replacing the entire airbag unit). Ditto with the non-engaging driver's side hood latch. I did not buy the car there. (Neither do I slip anyone a "tip".) Why is this not a normal experience at every single dealership in the US? I mean - this is a "premium" brand....

Oh I see, I should die because I bought an aftermarket floor mat. Poor design is poor design. I have seen a ton of Toyota /Lexusucks product recalls this year and I own a 2007 FJCruiser.

but for the 335, is th newest fuel pump a long-term solution? Have they finally got it right? I had a BMW dealer tell me yesterday that thy finally fixed the 07-08 years HPFP problem....

Probably not. They are still failing. Some progress seems to have been made between reprogramming and the redone pumps, but it's not fixed completely.

Just the N54 engine (135, 335, 535, some x5, x6, etc...) & not the M3 (yet).
