any ever borrow the code reader from autozone,
I just spoke to the manager and he said the Actron OBDII is $60 and reads and deletes codes? You can put a $60 deposit down and use it for 90 days here's the product http://www.actron.com/whats_new_detail.php?id=20 any thoughts comments? |

My guess is that if the AutoZone reader came up with no codes it is a BMW specific error because my understanding is OBDII are more or less universal. |

Additionally,
How stringent are the PA inspections? In Texas, one could get away with a catless system as long as they threw no OBDII specific codes. What all am I looking at with a PA inspection? Thanks, Ian |

You live in Allegheny county so you will have to pass emissions and unfortunately without cats, that wont happen, so a lot of people have their cats cut out, and have flanges welded on them along with a piece of straight pipe to swap out nice and easy like.

So catless downpipes should be ok? Just the secondary cats would give me trouble?

Can any of you guys recommend a good shop in Pittsburgh? I need to get an LSD installed and really don't have the time to do it myself!! Where do you all go for auto work. I'm going to have to switch to the import forums soon for local info! Looks like Spm is the only one around anymore

Ok, I've heard of them. About how far is that from Pitt? I think I may just bite the bullet and do the install myself.

5.5 hours (just stopping for gas-took me 5 hours-I'm 30 min SW from downtown), took the trip out in the fall for DP install and coding. They're great guys.

Ok thanks! Looks like Pittsburgh would be a good location for a performance shop. I'm going to ask around on the import and domestic forums to see who is in the area. Good little niche if nothing is out there.

Lol
Can do all the work on e90's, just get lazy and would rather pay to have it done. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about any others models! 5 1/2 hours is too far though, can't justify it. I'm pulling out the ol' jack stands. |
