Pat question, is this the correct order?

Wash > Clean (clay, polish, only if needed) > Seal > Glaze / Wax???

Obviosly there are steps in between like drying, but I am confused about the order of / difference of polish, wax, sealant, and glaze.

That is the order.

You clay the car if you can fill little bumps when you pull your hand lightly across the paint. If you put your hand in a sandwich bag you can fill the paint better.

Polish is to correct paint problems, scratches. swirls and to get the paint and smooth as possible. You have different grades of polishes and different pads to use with the polished. More aggressive the polish/pad combo, then you need to follow up with a less aggressive polish/pad combo.

Glaze does not protect the paint. It give the color more depth and clarity. You put glaze on after you polish.

Sealant is what protect the paint. It will last longer then wax as far as not coming off as you wash the car. A good sealant will leave almost as good a shine as a wax. The sealant goes on after the glaze

Wax. Great shine and protection. Does not protect as good as sealant. Will not last as long. You can put the wax on after the sealant. This is the best combo if you want protection and shine.

That is good info Pat, thanks. Would you also explain how you wash the car after one of your top notch detail jobs? I want to make sure we get as much longevity out of your work as possible while being responsible when washing. In the case of my wife's car (A4), there will have to be a little give and take with a touchless automatic wash and occasional hand washing.

Yeah, just been really really busy lately.

The new set up is great. Rub's a little sometimes. But love it and I think it was totally worth it.

Thanks Pat! I had read somewhere that you were supposed to put glaze on after sealant... but that seems backwards to me.
