Well I got another one. For someone who's not much of a BMW fan we seem to be collecting them lately. Its not an E90 but there is not much of a forum for these and it is close enough so I hope you guys don't mind.
07 E61 530xi 6spd. Also one of the oddest colour combos I've seen (Amethyst grey on Amethyst dakota) and non sport ![]() ![]() |

E61's are pretty cool. I pass a 535i E61 daily on my commute into work.
Also passed 50k miles this morning. ![]()

Stopped for gas and the starter refused to crank a couple nights ago. Not the first time either.
After about 20 minutes of waiting for it to cool, I gave up and put it in reverse, rolled back off the curb onto the street and popped the clutch. Vroom. Ended up hitting the worst of rush hour as a result of that delay. It got me home, though I was in a ripe mood about it. Called the parts store today. The starter is still under warranty 2 and a half years later, *and* they'll do a swap for a new one based on my description of the problem alone. Doesn't cover the labor time of pulling off the intake again, and I think I am supposed to replace bolts while I'm in there, but what can ya do. |

New Continental ECS tires, M3 front control arms, motor mounts, and transmission mounts installed, full alignment done, CDV removed. The car shifts so much smoother now.
I really don't notice a difference with the M3 arms and non-RFTs. If anything, the steering feels a bit less precise now than it did with stock arms and Michelin PS2 ZPs. |

Valve cover gasket completed. Wasn't too bad of a DIY.

Installed a VRSF 5" FMIC and upgraded to MHD Stage 1+! The install process was, admittedly, a bit more frustrating than I expected. I am not a fan of the clamping hardware provided by VRSF. I first had a boost leak at the outlet connection but was able to resolve it by redoing the clamps. They're just not very user-friendly. That's my only gripe.

Continentals are essentially 9/10 the performance of Michelins for roughly 3/4 the price at retail. You can get some really great rebates, I get 50% back. Michelins are superior but you can't go wrong with Continental pricing/performance.

Lower charge pipe connection popped off. When I was fixing it, I accidentally snapped the upper radiator hose nipple and sprayed coolant allllllll over the wall. Autozone had a new one in stock. Easy fix.

So many things I want/need to do with my car, just not enough money. Had to spend part of the day writing down everything I am looking to do with my car to help quell all my thoughts tumbling around in my head. Anyone else dealing with this?
I think I'm going to try to aim to do at least one thing on the list per week. One step at a time.

Finally added the missing piece to the puzzle 🧩.
Now my underseat subs can finely be mids, as they were designed to be! All I can say is that the system sounds fantastic, almost unreal. I got the enclosure from Visual Ice. They are located in England I believe. It only took 6 days to get to my house once they shipped it. The box is solid & heavy. Fitment is spot on. I put a JL Audio 10w1v3 sub in the box. It's powdered by an Alpine 300w amp. I only have the gain turned up about 4O%. Cost of the box was $190.00 US dollars. It's made 100% out of Fiberglass & the box came with Polyfill already in it. |
