Guess the question now is who will be the first to get it?

Also, make sure you get a feel for how fast your car performs on a fixed track of some sort, so that you have a basis for comparison. It would be a really good idea to video tape yourself opening it up on a straightaway, both from a rolling start and from a dead stop. Then, if BMW tries some chicanery where they improve the throttle response but neuter the HP or actual torque, you'll have some evidence of the difference. The last thing we want is something WORSE than 29.2, and I would not put it past them to create a whole new problem while trying to "solve" The Lag. |

ya, I'd imagined that they could do it, but they acted as though they were thoroughly disgusted by the very notion of reverting to an older ECU update.

I'm baaaaaakkkkkk....
They went for a ride with me and I showed them the lag and presented them with BMW documentation that "BMW had eliminated lag altogether". They want my car for a few days to do some testing.

I'm curious what do they say when you tell them this happened right after the software was updated? I fundamentally do not understand the need for "testing" when the cause is already known.

I guess it's good news that they didn't give you the canned response that "this is how it's supposed to behave".

I took del with v29.2 and got flashed w/ v30.01 and the car, as I have stated to my dealer from the getgo has performed with lag the whole time. The cause? Please explain in detail if you would be so kind as to what exactally is the cause?

I agree that a) it is nice they listened and didn't give a canned response, but b) it is disconcerting that they need to do "more testing", because I agree with others above that they should not baffled as to the cause of the problem. Oh well, it can't hurt that they are holding on to the car! Thanks for the update. Did The Stig flash you in the eyes with one of them Men in Black mind-eraser gizmos so you don't remember what he/she looked like since they aren't supposed to come in contact with humans?!? Oh, hopefully you handed them a printout of your signature, too! |

Exactly, the cause is the software. So RBB I assume you have the MSD81 then? Don't recall your build date off-hand.

I really wasnt' trying to be disrepectful to slubu. With his response, I would have brought that back with me next week when they take my car back for testing. As for the stun stare...Diddnt happen, but, I will never and I mean never forget what the engineer looked like or the customer relations guy. All I can say is I hope after all this is said and done, all I want is the performance of the car I test drove in the car I have now. Thank God I did not do ANYTHING TO THE CAR BECAUSE I AM SURE THAT THEY ARE GOING TO GO OVER IT WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB TO SEE IF I MODDED OR TAMPERD WITH ANYTHING. That was made clear to me...

Good for you RBB, that is a promising repsonse. I'm in about the same boat with my 135, it came with 29.2 so I really don't have much to compare to. I've been trying to get some hard data by logging intake manifold pressure vs throttle position, but haven't had luck with my Autoenginuity scan tool. Does anyone have a logging scan tool avalible to try some ideas?

Release Dates for V31
I went to look for these again and realized they were on 1Addicts, not here....so...now they are here. Posted from a helpful guy over there:
"here's some information regarding the availability of the Progman V31, and the release dates are as following: Germany 2008-09-05 Availability Europe 2008-09-08 Availability Rest of World 2008-09-17 The V31 will only be available on DVD and not by JETStream, so that unfortunately you from the U.S. will have to wait 3 more weeks." Only two more days for you Germans! Come on Meyer, you know you want to guinea pig for us |

i hope they solve your problem, but my money says they will tell you "everything is working as intended" or, best case scenario, that "v31 should do the trick"
