Been riding bikes since I was about 8 and am now 54.

Had many big road bikes, RGV's, TLR's, R1's, GXR's and have now had two Panigale's. Used to ride at Eastern Creek once a month until I had two knee replacements
about 6 years ago.

Forgot, also owned a Nightrod for a couple of years.

Just picked up the V4S about a month ago, still really haven't had a chance to go on a "proper" ride yet but it is a beast!

Stay safe.

I've got a 2002 Yamaha FZ1 that I have owned since 2004 and put ~65,000 miles on it. I haven't ridden much in the past couple of years though. I also have a 2002 Suzuki DRZ 400E off-road model but with a tag and just enough stuff on it to make it street legal.

Have you ridden one? Hands down the most uncomfortable bike I've ever ridden. But then again I have old man back and two bad wrists....so.....you might be fine.

Honest question - what's a good starter bike? I'm 6'3", 225#, competent dirt biker...looking for mostly backroads, rarely highway if ever.

Anything Japanese is hard to go wrong with. You'll spend all your time riding and none of your time repairing.

What style of bike do you like? Classic, retro, cruiser, dual sport?

Give your size, dirtbike background, and desire to mostly ride backroads you mike like a Kawasaki KLR. it's not fancy or fast but they are cheap to buy, cheap to run, easy to fix when you dump it, and you can take it on or off road with ease. Great starter bike for a tall guy with dirtbike experience.

I currently have a:

2016 BMW R1200 GSA

2018 BMW R Nine T Scrambler

Two different riding styles, basically the exact same motor, and a shitload of fun!

I gave up riding when I had my first kid and now that the youngest is in college I'm starting to think about getting back into it.

I'm just starting to look, but would most likely be interested in one of the smaller adventure bikes.

As for my history...

I started with a Honda Mini Trail 50, moved to a Honda SL100, then a Suzuki TM125, a Honda Elsinore 125, a Honda XL175, Yamaha RD400 and my last bike was a Honda CX500.

I’ll ad to the used to list. I started on a Honda XR 250 thumper, then trail rode/raced motocross on a KX250 and a YZ250. Then I went to street bikes. First one was a ZX-6R then a first gen Z1000, finally a R1200R.

I have to admit I’ve gotten soft as I’ve gotten older and don’t really miss it, but it was a lot of fun back in the day. If any of you are in the area PM me and let me take it for a 1/4 mile run through the gears, I’ll it give right back after my quick fix.

I would like to find a 2 stroke 250 to ride in the woods occasionally. I miss my old 2 stroke dirt bikes.

I've got my Suzuki S40 - perfect small bike to get around the city, and with enough power to cruise on the highway all day. Every summer I get the itch to get something fancier, but then I remind myself how often nice bikes get stolen around here.

There's no greater rush in life than driving a sportbike at your limits. Been riding, racing, tracking, building, and collecting sportbikes for over 20 years now.
