Dear Cobb,

First off, I absolutely LOVE this tune. What a beast it makes the car! Can you guys work on adding a 60-130 function into the performance meter section of the AP?

Thanks for all the good work!

60-130 mph and 100-200 km/h would be sweet!

When you uninstall the Cobb (ie. to take for service at a dealer) do you need to use the AP to remove codes thrown and then uninstall or when you uninstall the AP are codes such as overboost etc. removed automatically? I am unclear on how to remove codes and if it's even necessary to remove codes if you are uninstalling back to the original factory ecu tune. Thanks!
if you uninstall your ap before you bring your car in to service it should clear any codes you have. for the overboost i dont think theres anything that can clear that if bmw wanted to they can dig deeper and find out. if your bringing your car in for service just uninstall your ap and you should be good.

Why does everyone ask for a 60-130? Turn on data log, log vehicle speed, press pedal, accelerate, shift. Read datalog, there's your info. Why get it spoonfed?

Switching Modes

Just curious how easy it is and how "anal", folks that have the Cobb are about switching modes? For example, do you switch modes if your wife is gonna drive the car? If you are going to have a valet drive do you switch? And how is it to switch on the fly if you want to?

Real 60-130 use GPS and measure incline/decline of the road.

If its over a certain threshold downhill its not considered a true representation.

I dont switch at all. To me, the tune feels like stock with 50+ more whp (which it is)

Sorry for more basic questions:

What is the worst case scenario of doing the Cobb tune...blow your turbos, screw up the ECU?

What happens if Cobb goes out of business and you run into ECU issues down the line - would you just be forced to revert back to stock?

Lastly - My car is under warranty until 2014 and do want to screw that up. From all that I have read Cobb looks like the best mod that should be a safe bet as long as it is uninstalled when going in for service.

You always take a risk with a tune, nothing is guaranteed.

Same worst case scenario as other tunes; worst case scenarios don't change with tunes only the likelihood of them happening.

I doubt COBB will disappear. They exist across multiple platforms and even if they do then you can still continue to use their AccessPort tune and the tuners in their network will still know how to work on the software.

COBB should be safe if uninstalled before you go in for service. You don't have to mess with uninstalling things from under the hood.

Worse case scenario has to be that you corrupt your ECU during the flashing process and BMW can't restore it without charging you for a new one.

Exclamation >>Cobb AP Group Buy in Process!<<

Group buy for the Cobb AP (including year 2007 335i's) is in process in the link in my signature below. Should be getting a good price on this.

Silly question...if I've got a Vanguard exhaust (stock DP) would I run Stage 1 (choosing octane between 91 and 93) and expect to see more gains than just running Stage 1 on a fully stock exhaust?

OR, do I need to wait for COBB Stage 2?

Thanks in advance,

Manny

you dont have to wait till stage two, you can use your bolt-ons with stage one but stage one is really only recommended for stock. stage 2 is where i think you get to utilize the full potential of your BO. someone correct me if im wrong.

I'm fairly certain that stage 2 requires DP's and maybe a FMIC to run the increased boost safely...

Why would running Stage 1 with an exhaust not be recommended?

Because they tuned the ots stage 1 on a stock car, not one with a modified exhaust. Therefore, to protect themselves from unintended effects stage 1 might have on a car modified with other components, they say you shouldnt do it.

So there is no auto-tune like the Procede has, where it automatically adjusts to your mods.

Happy

Did the install last night and was impressed with how transparent it is in normal driving. Wife was with me and she did not notice the difference until the road opened up and I got on it. Very impressive power. I made the right choice.

Put on my Afe DCI and BSH OCC today. Just got back from having some fun. No codes at all.
