I had a dud fuel level sensor on the stage 3 LPFP, my mech nutted that out and fixed it. Hadn't really done any big trips in it since March 2020 so now I have a functioning fuel gauge I can start driving it more often. The seats are great, the driving position is just bang on for me now. After hopping out of the E92 into the F10 I feel like I'm sitting way too high ![]() Getting out is a bit tricky due to the high side bolsters and my long legs (my legs kinda get tangle dup on the steering wheel) and if I'm in a tight car parking space where I cant open the door right up its near on impossible. So that's one of the downsides (for someone of a normal stature it wouldn't be so difficult) you feel way more connected to the car albeit there is also less cushioning so spending 4-8 hrs in the seat may get uncomfortable (typically most trips I do I take a break every few hours if I'm on a drive day with mates anyway) So a big outlay of $ for them but makes driving for me so much more enjoyable especially being a MT with the race buckets so my legs are now at a much better angle for braking depressing the clutch etc |

Have seen the chinabay versions and though nah to that as well but if you rate them then I might give it a go too. Surprised to hear Wagner use cheap Chinese cores - makes the $$ difference not so worth it. |

Starting to get a few revisions in on the E40 now Tim has almost got it sorted. Frustratingly the tuning has revealed that rail pressures are struggling (too much Ethanol for oem HPFP fuelling setup) yet not enough Ethanol have to keep retarding the timing..
So if I wish to get a more aggressive tune and more power and go away with blending and run straight E85 I'd be best to look at the spool helix HPFP 3x upgrade with Ethanol % sensor. Might just put that on the backburner The LPFP still continues to give me grief with a oem sensor fitted, the level is all out of wack it seems. When the tank is full the needle sits 2-3mm off full then after 50 kays use it drops significantly like way under 3/4. Discussing it with Vince he seems to think a self test via INPA might resolve it ![]() Finally organised a cruise with a few guys in my area, it had been almost 2.5 years since the last proper drive day (Dec 2019 Jan 2020 we had bad bushfires a lot of the roads were closed then covid...) The car drove great and no CEL or issues of any sort ![]() I definitely noticed the extra power and torque now, and the 265 AD08R struggles to put the power down now even in 3rd gear at times ![]() |

Great pics and your car looks the biz mate. You might be aware that there's a competitor to the spool that uses helical cut gears. Apparently less noise vibration; apparently will be more reliable ....

Car looks to be in mint condition as usual Shane. When I installed the KW Street Comfort coilovers in my car, I increased the height by about 1cm but yours appears to be higher still. I would be interested in knowing the measurements between the guard and ground at the centre of each wheel to compare with mine. Also, whether you have a difference in height between the DS and ODS. Although, I set the coilovers at the same height, the DS is 0.5cm lower than the ODS. ODS front - 650mm; ODS Rear - 650mm; DS Front - 645mm and DS Rear - 645mm.

Last year after a driveday I parked my car in the garage, and a few days later noticed a big pool of PS fluid. My M3 rack had been leaking lightly but yeah it basically just emptied the res this time...
It sat for many months trying to get it into my local mechanic ended up buying a used rack locally and swapping it over vs rebuilding the existing rack. I'd always wanted to fit the 1M PS reservoir (active steering res) as the oem E9X res always leaks... So decided to get that installed along with the M3 rack On a recent blap with a few guys I can confirm that this res doesn't leak PS fluid ![]() |

One of the goals for my build was to have bigger turbos, ohlins coilovers, forged 18" rims, custom race buckets & a nice set of brakes.
During the course of my build I'd crossed all those items off my list except for the brakes. I'd once purchased a near new set of F8X ///M brakes, and whilst they looked 1000x times better than the oem E9X M3 brakes I currently run, they required custom mounts and are still boat anchors not a huge increase in braking performance. The goal was to then look at retrofitting a larger brembo caliper or something, I'd gone for the slonik brembo calipers which use F8X rotors but yeah he stuffed me around on two separate occasions which left a bad taste in my mouth. I'd always wanted AP racing brakes, but the huge cost was extremely difficult to justify for a street car like mine. Like many E9x 335i owners over the years most have moved onto bigger and better things, I'd decided to park it and most likely look at moving the car on. But the more I look at other options I realise I'm probably best to just keep the F10 and E92 vs say selling both and buying a F80 M3 CS which I had hoped would be sub $100k by now... With 10 years of ownership coming up I decided to complete my last large missing piece of the modification build puzzle! I'd recently seen a slightly used F8X ///M AP Racing BBK pop up for sale and decided to snap it up ASAP. The AP Racing calipers are the CP9665's which have a massive 25mm thick endurance racing pad and the rotors are way OTT for my intended purposes 378mm x 36mm thick (to give you some comparison the huge oem F8x rotors are 30mm thick). The AP racing 5000R radical caliper design is based upon their top tier racing calipers albeit instead of taking 8 hrs of machining in a mill from billet they have forged them into a two piece design. The design is quite skeletal to minimise weight and not just look really cool are designed to be an all out performance brake setup and wont discolour at high temps with a anodised finish. The caliper profile is quite slim yet is extremely wide, so will fit nicely in a 18" rim, and whilst being much larger than oem setups they generally offer quite decent weight reduction. Since these brakes are off a F8X M, they have different mounting points. Based on my prior research when I'd bought oem F8x brakes I knew it was possible to retrofit the F8x knuckles/spindles to the E9X and its best to buy new wheel speed sensors to suit the F8X knuckles and just cut and splice a E9X connector onto the end v's hacking up a E9X sensor with shitty mounts to reposition the sensor: E9X spindle (LH side in image) compared to F8X spindle RH side in image) Upon collection of the BBK the pads supplied by the previous owner is the expensive Endless N35S pads, albeit these are a dedicated track pad, so will have horrible cold braking characteristics and are extremely abrasive to the rotor when used out of their temp range during street driving and I'm sure will be noisy AF... Upon further investigation it was revealed whilst the two piece rotors the ring is replaceable, its non standard pcd and bolt hardware etc make it difficult to purchase an off the shelf ring. I was going to have a set of custom rings manufactured but this irked me knowing that in the future purchasing non standard parts would be annoying. So I was looking at going for a new set of custom hats and rings based on AP part numbers which have standard pcd's and accommodate standard hardware but to do so they also need to know dimensions for position of caliper etc based on mounts. I was getting pricing from two vendors one for custom machined hats and rings and another vendor said it'd be easier for them to start from scratch machine up new caliper mounts to suit F82 M4 knuckles, hats, rings with sexy j hooks so it will simply all mount up. So I decided to opt for this option. It was basically the purchase price of the slightly used BBK to have this all done ![]() Then finally looking for a street pad was rather tricky as the typical AP Racing radical calipers (CP 9660 & 9668) which share pad size/shape albeit 9668 accommodating larger 25mm thicker pads the CP9665 caliper takes 25mm pads only meaning most manufacturers only offer a race only pad for this caliper design. My choices were the Ferrodo DS2500 which seem highly regarded by AP racing as a dual duty pad or the Project Mu Club Racer pad. Project Mu didn't normally offer their club racer compound in this pad but were willing to do a custom one off. Unfortunately not only this was quite expensive it'll also take 8 weeks. I guess the easiest solution would be just run the existing endless pads and rotors but yeah I'm not really keen on that, and have decided to go the whole nine yards and spend another $4k on custom rotors mounts rings, and great pads and use the F8X spindles along with F8X wheel speed sensors. I managed to get a start on cleaning up the F8X M4 spindles the rotors will be done in 2-4 weeks and 8 weeks for the pads from Japan. Last edited by DR-JEKL; 05-01-2022 at 06:18 PM.. |

Not surprised with the cost and effort blowout on these brakes, but will be well worth it. They are special and will match the rest of the build like a treat!
