That's about how mine looks *after* a car wash
M-Sport is super rare, but its just a bit of cosmetics. Are y'all really willing to pay that much more for a different set of bumpers and a side sill that says m-sport on it? I guess I'm in a different camp... i want one with a good suspension and a lot of power Last edited by vilord; 06-12-2018 at 03:21 PM.. |

New to this site, found this locally and trying to set up a PPI
https://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/cto/d/2008-bmw-328xi-sports-wagon/6613334661.html Would prefer it in any other color. Wondering if the low asking price justifies buying it only to have it repainted. |

That being said, that seems crazy to buy this to repaint it. These cars are rare but they're not *that* rare especially around this mileage. I feel like you'd be so underwater on it after paying for a professional paint job that you'd never come close to recouping your costs. And it seems like a pretty big risk if you total your $10,000 car that has a book value of $5,500. I'd be worried about the same issue on the white M-Sport that sold on BaT for $18,375 (incl. fees) but only has a book value of ~$13.5k. I guess it's probably the same mindset one has to have with making any serious mods though - you'll never (rarely) get what you have into it whether it's a total loss scenario or it comes time to sell. Which brings up the point - is anyone else worried about insuring these? I saw this earlier post about agreed value insurance, which seems to be about your only option if you truly want to be protected? I wonder what the cost premium for that type of coverage is. |

You’re right about the paint. In this case, my cost might be lower than retail because I know the former director of a trade school, and I have a relative employed at an auto body shop. Still, the price seems to be $1,500-$2,000 cheaper than most e91 examples with similar mileage. |

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F302765812860 I don't love the beige, also pictures aren't doing much justice for Orient Blue. Google it. 6MT. N52 with metal valve cover. One owner.

Congrats! It's rough seeing multiple people attempt to get the same car, but always good to see it ultimately in the hands of an enthusiast. Make sure to throw up pictures and/or start a build thread if you have plans for it

It's counter-intuitive that a superior product actually costs less, I too expected to pay more for an Agreed Value policy. So the fact that I'm actually saving about $200/year is icing on the cake. |

These cars are hard to come by and probably even harder to find low mileage, I know I limited myself to 50k or less... I found her, but it took time. If you are search and on this thread you know what fun these cars can be and appreciate what the represent. I would encourage you to pick the options you want, grade the ones you want the most and be willing to compromise and to act fast. I wanted a true unicorn, Msport, Premium and 6speed, but ended up with an almost unicorn without the 6speed. Be patient, be vigilant and good hunting. |

If you are willing to pay $3k~ extra for manual, why don't you just do tranny swap?
Then it will be a lot easier to find a color, non-xi, options you want? I am happy I got auto wagon since I can't imagine driving around LA in manual.... |

I'm in the North West corner of Connecticut. This is manual driving territory. If I head for NYC, I agree an auto would be preferred.
Now an auto swap sounds interesting. Might check into that. There is a rear wheel auto near me. I have a 635CSI that is now manual, so much more fun. |
