I have just been driving mine and putting off the water pump, t stat install. It has a code but the light keeps turning itself off. All the parts are already sitting in my shop but I have to move the e9 off the lift and thats kind of a pain. Oh well, I guess thats a good problem to have.

Turned the tie rods out 3 full rotations on each side (to make them longer). Alignment seems intact after doing this. Driving to alignment place right now.

First impressions, surprisingly not much difference in handling. That could be because I have an m3 steering rack installed (with 325i tie rod ends).

Lots of increased road noise though. Didn’t realize how quiet stock ones were.

More on this as I drive more.

In and out like a ghost.

have you installed your arm with the wheel carrier lifted? aka same position if the car was on the floor.
If not it could be hard for the bushing, they will be twisted hard.

Yeah I don’t mind increasing the feeing of raw inputs - ie m3 steering rack with limited steering, m3 front sway + bushings etc

But the increase in noise is definately noticeable, especially in nyc/jersey where the roads are shit. No difference in regular nice smooth driving roads though.

Definately. Loaded the rotor with a jack prior to tightening down subframe bolts.

What’s strange is that the driver side front sits about 1/4-1/2 of an inch higher than passenger side. Many debates on this, but seems to be the design of the car/bmws in general.

My old 328i had a part that held the trunk floor panel up when accessing the storage compartment underneath. My 330i didn't, so I ordered one, and installed it today.

I don't know if someone had removed the one in my 330i, or someone had installed it in my old 328i, but it's something that SHOULD be a stock item, if it isn't. Small thing, but very useful!

Cheers!

Running with real tires or runflats?
I noticed a huge difference when I switched from the rental car w/normal tires to the e91 with runflats as I was driving back on the Garden State a couple days ago. Can't wait to get the runflats as far from my new car as possible.

Not sure if I would call bridge stone ecopia Prius tires “real tires”. But they are probably better than run flats.

Like for like, same tires, more road noise.

When I got the 330i, I went to put some things into the storage compartment, and I couldn't figure out why the floor panel wouldn't stay up. I slammed it up against the roof of the trunk, thinking I wasn't putting enough force into it. I finally figured out there was this part, called a "Detent for insert plate, lugg.comp." that was missing! I assume it's a standard part, and someone removed it from my car, but I can't think of WHY they would do that!

Cheers!

It probably broke, like mine did, leaving a sharp, jagged piece of plastic that will do a number on any part of your body should said part come in contact with it...so they removed it instead of replacing it.

I noticed the road noise from my run flats more once I refreshed my suspension, is why I asked... switching to non-run flats quieted it back down while keeping the tighter handling.

Interesting that the M3 bits make it even more loud

Tach was surprisingly easy as it was just taking the second to last stepping and going backwards to verify. 8k isn't worth programming since you don't have access to it anyway.

I spent more time worrying about my horrible soldering skills for the warmup dial servo.
I figured out the values to set for the speedo stepper motor to have it show actual speed, and it's accurate! I had to figure it out using algebra, hahah!! So cool to have the actual speed on the analog speedo.

Cheers!

Wow you can fit a gallon of washer in your trunk under floor? Mine is so high up. I guess 335i is different?

EDIT: Oh are you E90? Maybe E92 is more shallow.

That storage compartment is really quite big. I have the gallon of washer fluid, a set of jumper cables, a tire inflator/Green Slime kit, and a quart of motor oil in there, and there's still a bit of space!

Cheers!

The 325/328/330s don't have the dual exhaust that the 335s have.

For example us N52 owners have to route the piping around that storage compartment if we want dual/quad exhausts lol

my e91 storage is pretty big.

holds my viair compressor and straps and flashlight and all the stupid things that need to be in the car that I don't want to see until I need it.

Found my summer wheels today.
Style 71s from an e46.
little bit of wheel spacer action and it'll be swell.

Storage in my e93....well....dosent really exists. There is how ever a small compartment under the tray in the truck that holds my bag of tools, and a rechargeable jumper pack. And the little storage bin to the side in the trunk holds a microfiber towel and a flask full of whiskey.
