Fellas, being a bunch of semi-educated MF’s that we are with boost on these engines, I wanted to get some opinions about swapping out the rear diff with a 3.73 from an auto. Possibly a hellical lsd while you’re in there?
Would it make our cars feel like extra extraaaaaa quick with boost? I know biginboca did the swap and said it was a night and day difference with the N54 intake manifold, it keeps the engine in that sweet spot for the rpms. Would it not have the same effect on a boosted set up, basically keeping the car in that 3000-4000 party time zone. |

Kiddvegas I am running the 3.91 helical. I don't know how it would feel on turbski— but I can't imagine it would suck. But then again, Torgus do you know if the 335 folk like to stay with taller or shorter gears?

I'm running stock hardware with a moderate tune and I can easily break the 19" r30 255s on the rear loose at low speed and second gear. |

Can't you tune it and then just take the tune off when you go in for warranty work? Usually it is that simple and a quick process to flash the car.
Driving an untuned turbocharged car should be a crime. There is a TON of power usually left on the table. Example of stock vs tuned on an n54:

Torgus
I thought the dealers are able to see if the car was flashed or not.. unsure. I need to go to the b58 forum and see what they say. I know it's possible to flash back and forth, but idk if the change in technology between the 2 platforms is damning in the sense of proof or not

https://burgertuning.com/products/b58-jb4 <-- Well known and used product on the n54. Whole forum devoted to it: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=36 <-- should be all you need to known about flashing etc. https://burgertuning.com/products/b4...-install-tuner <-- limited functions and less power than the JB4. Fork out the extra $300 for the JB4, it is worth it. I say get the JB4 now and when your warranty expires then flash the backend maps for it via MHD. Review of JB4: EXCELLENT AND STEALTH!Steve D. on Dec 29, 2019 I thought the only way to get more power was to void my warranty with a flash tune. Low and behold after a quick search online I'm so happy I found the JB4 here at Burger. It has transformed the car completely and the Bluetooth app is so cool. I run map 3 with 93 octane and 4 gallons of E85 and it's the ultimate sleeper! Easy installation and remove for service. I wish they made a tune for every car! friends don't let friends drive stock ![]()

Torgus we are friends? 🥺👉👈
Thanks for the information! Honestly the first newer car I've bought in my 25 years of life. Trying to have fun when I can with it, but I also don't want to foot nasty bills if I break something.

![]() The joy of a piggy back is you get the performance and if anything breaks it is under warranty(it should not) and can be removed for warranty work. Best of both worlds in my opinion. For being 25 years old that is a nice car to drive.

Back to the topic of final drive ratios N52 vs. N54. Look at the are under the torque curve of a base N54 vs the Base N52.
Once you start to Tune the N54 the difference gets even more dramatic. It's easy to push 550 nm of torque at 2500 RPMs with stock N54 parts. Stock turbos just run out of breath at 6,00 RPM or so. Just saying that there's little need for taller gears. |

I’ve actually seen builds where they regear turbo cars and go the other way, so they use taller gears. It would be the same as starting off in 2nd gear which is also something you see a lot of turbo cars doing at the drag strip.

Thanks for the good info! I was just thinking of biting the cost for MPPSK and the cool muffler to go with the easy going trim level. I finally get to have saddle brown like I've always wanted... Annoyed I got the issues that I do with my time served, but hey, I get that sweet parking pass and get to hobble out my nice humble car. When this degree is finished I hope to have a nice new m car then when I'm an old fart, maybe a slick old Ferrari. rjahl thank you for the clarification! I had a feeling I saw some folks speak of final drive ratios being 2.something. Just didn't want to spew hunches up the rears of everyone here. I appreciate it!

Don't get too caught up with the final drive ratios unless your sure the transmissions are similar.
Look at the attached data for the E89, pretty sure the 335 is the same: Final drive with the DCT is 2.56 but the first gear ratio is 4.780. Torque multiplication is the product of the two ratios. or 12.23 for the DCT and 12.47 for the manual. Very similar but different final drive gears. Also notice the lack of an overdrive gear. |

Nothing new except a resealed engine and an oem clutch. Injectors from StageFP on their way, hopefully by next week. With my projected power output being 350rwhp tops, I can go forward with meth kit endeavors. Then when all the components are here and installed, tune time.
