What subs are you using? (Base, HiFi or L7)?
I'm using the Base subs.

Let's hope you are correct, as I don't particularly wish for the amp to be faulty.
I bought the kit from a BMW dealership in Germany. They were at least a £100 cheaper than the dealers here in the UK.
Sounds like you bought it from the same place as me. Think it was £297 after the conversion.

I have a pair of HiFi Subs for sale if you're interested? I put the L7's in.

The missus is not happy with me stripping the car and changing it up.. Lol

Anyway, I will complete the doors this coming weekend and let you know if it all works or not
Thanks for your help so far

Unfortunately no luck with sound from the left side. I wired up and connected everything, but absolutely no sound from the left tweeter, mid and mid-bass.

I think the amp must be faulty. I will have to raise a RTM ticket and send it back to Germany.

Unless I can test with another amp ?

Can BMW UK not honour the warranty, as its a genuine BMW accessory?

Surely proof of purchase with a date on would be OK?

May save you a lot of hassle if they will take a look for you.....

Hi all,
Just finished reading this great thread, lots of helpful ppl!
I'm planning to do this on my pre LCI E93 and ideally I would like it coded.

Did anyone solve the issue of low PDC after coding? I have the base system with pro nav (CCC)

Thanks

Cheers, I just installed today the Alpine speakers, took me about 5 hours all good. I have a question, how the frequency switch on each door card is supposed to be fixed? I tried every position but each time I put the door card back the clips below the tweeter wont lock. i am thinking maybe because the frequency switch is pushing against the door card?

If you mean the crossover by the tweeter then yeah had to reposition this to get it to fit. Googling pictures of it helps.

Nope if I remember correctly I had to mount it differently to the instructions as it fouled the door cards. Can't remember now if it was the opposite side or different angle but it was definitely not per instructions. Like I said try Googling for images as that's what I did to get it sitting correctly.

I mounted it like that and it fit... try getting a friend to help you put the door cards back on it makes everything a lot easier. ALSO I noticed that your yellow wire is pointing down, but that's the one thats supposed to be attatched to the tweeters (the instructions tell you to attatch the blue wires to the tweeters but that is wrong and it doesn't sound right. It's been documented a few times on the forum.

So mount the crossover so the yellow wire is pointing towards tweeters and try to get it on maybe you'll have more luck

Oh i just remembered that one of the clips under the tweeter got a little bent so i used a thin plastic tool to guide it into its hole and THEN pushed it in to secure it and it worked. try that as well

Thanks the picture is just simething I found on the internet, its not mine. I repositioned the crossover and it went in eventually. My plan was to add extra foam on the doorcards ( silentcoat sound absorber) but I suspect that was the reason why I could not refit the door card properly as the foam was too thick.

You'll need tweeter pods for your doors.
It will need coding.

I don't get why people say it needs coding?

The official BMW instructions for this kit state that no coding is required?

I have the Alpine kit in my car with L7 underseats. Would I gain something by having the headhunt (Professional Nav - CIC) coded?

My set up sounds pretty good at present!

...couldn't leave this thread dead for nigh on a year! I picked up an '06 330i M Sport saloon in November - a 6 speed manual, Sparkling Graphite, Beige Dakota & Walnut, Pro Nav, 72k miles and a decent service history. Despite it being quite nicely specced, the original owner decided to make do with the Base stereo. Ugh. Barely audible at speed using the Aux in.

Anyway. I kept 'em peeled and picked up the Alpine kit from BMW Hull who had a couple listed on eBay back in March, for £388. Looking back, that's about an £80 mark up since robbie99 started this thread nearly a DECADE ago... cripes!

MattyD44 - thanks, already, for the guide linked above. I used that to swap in the front door speakers a couple of weeks ago and it's already sounding much nicer; more detail up high and louder too. I'm off work this week and am about to get started on the amp install. Here goes...

Talk about late to the party!
