When you start the engine and shut it off, take out the FOB from the slot, you can start the engine again without the FOB inserted. In case of an emergency, this allows you to start the engine again in a hurry.

Not impossible.

After the trunk pops up, slam it shut again. Your key is now locked in your trunk. This happened to me on vacation. I had the FOB in my jean pocket. The jean was in a duffle or backpack. I threw it in the trunk, shut the trunk lid, and it popped open. I thought that was weird and shut it again, then I realize the FOB is inside the car.

Had to call BMW assist to pop open the trunk.

going back 48 pages or so, i wouldn't mind if BMW would lift all their logic around the "RES" button. To me it would be neat if after driving fast on a hot summer day you could put the car in the garage, and have this system cool off your engine a bit.. while you go for a cold beer.

Also, if the fob battery is weak, I imagine it may not work!!!

don't know if this has been posted, sure everyone knows about it but if you are on a quick stop, just pull out your key from the fob when the car is still running and lock it from the outside, that way no one can get in the car and it's still running when you get back.

If you have CA you can just leave the engine running while you leave the car and lock from the ridges.

Yeah, like how are we suppose to know the trunk popped open because our key is in there? I just thought my trunk lid didn't latch when I slammed it shut.

I have always loved the REST function in the 5 Series but I noticed that in my 3 when the 15 minutes of residual heating comes to an end - restarting the car briefly and then turning it off will allow you to engage the REST function again for another 15 minutes. In fact I was waiting in my car for over 1.5 hours and got it work during that whole period of time. The outside temp was about 25 degrees F.

I've noticed that when my CD player is set to "random," if I use iDrive to select another track from what is playing, it turns off the random mode and just plays sequentially. However, if I use the steering wheel controls to select another track, it will play the other track but stay in random mode.

Red face Things I found out

Having owned 3 series from the prior generation(s) e36 and e46 the e90 is a wonder of technology. This week I discovered the little mark on the outer ring of the speedometer which indicates the setting of the speed control.
