You need either the x1 pdc module (pref reflashed for e9 series cars) and trvsc module (oem camera) or the emulator with 3rd party camera.

Coding on it own will not work.

Like Andy says, its one or the other.
I supposed reversing camera would work when I just changed values about rvc to activ in cic's trace file, after adding pins to quadlock connector. Thanks for the info. That was all I need to know.

Hello,

I've tried to install this original rear view, but I'm not able to find the correct pdc unit.
Is there another one which also fits for this solution.
My car only have pdc in the back. May be 9252637???
What is the different between e90 LCI pcd unit and the x1 unit?
There are also pdc unit with HW03 or 04 and AI02 from E90?

I've installed all parts and can connect to TRSVC unit but I can not get a test picture if I enable it with inpa or ista. Is the problem the pdc unit or?

Ok, I've found one in LT, with 9225822. Now coding works an CAM menue is in cic. I've coded pcd unit to rear pdc only with 4 sensors.
But I've next problem - after I switch to reverse gear pdc menue come, but the cam pic flickers extreme and pdc freeze - If I switch to another gear, the pdc menue also in cic. only after reset pdc ecu, normal menue in cic comes back.
I flashed pdc unit to 9252636 but nothing changed.
I recodnize that TRSVC is sometimes available and sometimes not. I put TRSVC at the same can bus as pdc and combox.
How can I check what is wrong - have no other ecus to test.

Why start out with an 8 sensor PDC and recode to 4, when a dedicated 4 sensor PDC is available.

What is your CIC coding and firmware revision?
Also what part number is your TRSVC?

Hi,the seller in ebay will not send to germany, so I tried to find another one and there was only a 8 sensor pdc unit available.
Today I played a little bit to find out whats the problem. I coded cic

MACRO_L6_PARKMENU
nicht_aktiv

to test what happen when no cam modul is installed and coded.
My old pdc unit work great, switch to reverse gear, pcd menue active, switch to an other one, pdc menu not active. Change pdc unit to e84 one, switch to reverse gear, pdc menue active, switch to an other gear, pdc menue also active - cic will not change to main menue, the menue feeeze.
You must reset SG or switch of the car to come back to main menue

TRSVC ist from X5 E70 with part number: 9245516
CIC is C1A.

This is coded in cic:
MACRO_PDC
aktiv
MACRO_REARVIEW
aktiv
RVC_CIC
wert_21
MACRO_L6_PARKMENU
aktiv
PDC_DIRECTION
vertikal

Possible PDC needs coding for manual gearbox. I have an SSD file from E84 manual which I was sent from another member, I have to code mine using that file to get proper operation. I'll see if I can attach it.

OK that would be great - I've looked in the coding file but could not find anything about automatic or manual

WinKFP flash of the PDC will not change the configuration, but it's good a start.

How did you code the E84 PDC from 8 sensors to 4 sensors? If you did this in ncsdummy manually then it's possible you have an invalid configuration as there are alot of 8/4 sensor options. An invalid config would likely cause strange or unexpected behaviour.

That said, I see no reason why default coding it with an appropriately configured E84.ssd shouldn't work. I have a program I wrote which should make this a little easier, I've also included a bundle of files for anyone brave enough to convert an E90 PDC to E84 as it's had some renewed interest recently. There's a dummy E84 ssd in there to get you started if you didn't have one already, as well as my own E84 PDC custom coded NETTODAT.TRC, though this is for a front and rear pdc E92 with an automatic transmission.

As far as I'm aware, the PDC doesn't care about what transmission you have. Deactivation is based on either how far you've travelled forward, or how fast you are travelling.

https://mega.nz/file/OJgRXSDA#IRW_ep...4e1rsbB6BUvXAM

For further troubleshooting, I would try disconnecting the TRSVC to eliminate the possibility of it interfering with the PDC on the CAN bus. An E84 PDC should still function even without it.

Thank you for the files.

I've coded the PDC with an empty fsw_psw.man file.
The first line, ANZAHL_WANDLER, was changed from 8 to 4, so I thought the other config changed too, right?!

I disconnected TRSVC and the problem is the same - I think there is a problem with pdc conf. Coding or a hardware problem with the PDC unit.
When I swap the PDC unit for the old one everything works fine apart from the cam display.
I'll try your files. Hope I found a way to solve the problem.

Tonight I put this to the test and made an edited E84 .ssd removing 508 and adding 507 (pdc rear only). I then used this to default code my module with a blank FSW_PSW.MAN and though I lost the function of the PDC button, the module worked fine with the config and did ignore front sensor input. The only thing I didn't do was disconnect the front sensors. I then made a few changes to this via the NETTODAT.MAN file (as it now contains parameters for E92 sensor behaviour and positioning) and tested it again before reverting back to my previous config.

The critical changes from 8 transducers to 4 are ANZAHL_WANDLER, and (under Parkmaster) E84_HYSTERESE, E84_V_SCHWELLE_1, E84_V_SCHWELLE_2, E84_D_SCHWELLE_1, E84_D_SCHWELLE_2. All should be 4 channel.

This was my final test config running as 4 sensors, which worked with no issues if you care to try out a tested valid config.

I've coded with your nettodat and coding works, but there is the same problem as before!
PDC menue freeze Tried with TRSVC and without - same!
Is there any other unit that must be coded if you retrofit 3AG?
I think there is a problem with the PDC unit - anyone who can help me to buy this unit from EBAY UK? I'll pay for all costs but I need anyone with UK adress...

Why are a PDC_E84.C25 file in the first download. I only have C15?!

As far as I know, only the PDC and CIC needs coding for 3AG to work normally. It's good practice to update the cars VO, but only needed for default coding without using an SSD file.

Did you perform a final CODIERDATEN_LESEN and compare the custom 4NETTODAT.MAN with the new NETTODAT.TRC? The C25 file was included as a custom file to be be used with ncsdummy. This is a merged e90 and e84 file which makes it easier to read and write e90 parameters to the e84 module using NETTODAT.

If it is potentially a hardware fault, I suggest you load Inpa or Tool32 and collect the error codes and check the functionality from the e84 pdc directly. Be sure to delete any historic codes as it will have the front sensors as open circuit before you modified the coding.

Another suggestion, if you have a local friend with a compatitible Exx chassis vehicle you could ask to plug this in to their car and see if the issue can be duplicated.

Oh no I don't compare the both file, I'll do this in the evening.
Deleting before coding - I'll try, good idea!
Any solution the buy this pdc unit?

OK I've checked first the unit in an other car - problem is the same - pdc menue freeze!
I think the is a hardware fault - I found yesterday a rear pcd unit with this microcontroller (9225823) and ordered it, hope it come at the weekend, then we will see if somethinge changes.

It may end up being defective, but personally I'd rather be sure. Did you read the error's on the module, and did you verfiy the read coding matched the written coding?

Hi,I've checked coding and it matches.
No errors in pdc unit. Today the new pdc unit should come, than we will see what happen.

Hey everyone, I’m just in the process of completing this retrofit, just one piece of the puzzle left…..the E84 PDC module.

Is this e84 module (9252636) 100% required to get this to work, or can another module be flashed to do the same job? The E84 modules are extremely expensive to buy in the UK and an alternative would be very welcomed. Thanks

Thats the only one that works. They're about £125-£150 typically.
Best of all the proper install with genuine parts, TRSVC and E84 PDC actually works 100% all of the time.

The emulators seem hit and miss at best. I wouldn't give one cupboard space, let alone put it in my car.

I know that's not what you're asking, but spend the money on the PDC, you won't reget it.

Hello 6ergsm,
It seems that I have the same problem as you with the PDC. Did you solve the problem??? I'm curious, because I want to be sure it is something else than a faulty PDC.

How I changed INPA that it uses the TRSVC01 instead of the TRSVC70 I can look up later. I don't know that by heart and am working at the moment.

For the JBE 3 you only need WINKFP (flash firmware / VIN) and NCS (coding) and INPA (clear error memory).

But as I said before, you don't have to code anything in TRSVC. Calibration is sufficient to ensure that the green and red lines are in the correct position.

I started the calibration via INPA and then I drove on the highway because the camera uses the road markings to calibrate.

I have a question for you, you also have a manual transmission. If the camera image is there and you drive forward then do the green lines in the image disappear?

With automatic transmissions they disappear when you drive forward and only then does the camera image go out at some point.

Tested on an E87 with automatic.
With my E81 (manual) the lines stay there while driving forward.

Here's a video from this E87, the green lines disappearing.

hi

can you share some pics regarding your setup? i am more interested on how you installed the camera in the bumper and how.

thanks

Interesting problem... I did the rear camera system mod on an E92 (page 3), and I've not seen anyone do this on an E87.

If I was you and I wanted to go OEM I'd mount it above the reg plate, right in the middle of the reg plate downlights, and I'd use the E70 camera mount (part number: 66539187808). It will only need a small square hole and should be quite discrete and factory finish.

I would also make custom coding if you're using a TRSVC70 for an E87. I know some people go with just the calibration, but what most people don't appreciate is that the calibration uses the coding parameters which have a narrow range (in other words, it doesn't work). I custom coded my TRSVC70 for my E92 and it made a very noticable difference in informing the module of the cars geometry. Having the camera so low down on an E87 it will become even more apparent and the steer lines will have little bearing on the cars position. Details and files provides to get you started in an early post, though there are a few requirements for coding these.

If however you go non-OEM, there are a range of camera's that come integrated into the reg plate downlights that won't require you taking a dremel to the bumper.

Ultimately the choice is yours but do let us know how you got on.
