...well thee above post did not work LOL, playing in Excel.... looks like with resonable options (well the ones I am looking at) you are bumping up or slightly over $50K to buy one at MSRP in NJ... painful....

Hmmmm what options can I omit.....

There was no 325Xi coupe in the e46. You are comparing an e46 325Xi sedan price to an e92 328Xi coupe price. Coupes cost more than sedans and there was no AWD coupe in '06 to make a comparison here.

both make the car un natural...active steering is not a true enthusiast move. I drove a 545i with active steering...not natural. And the active cruise control??? Come on man. Spend that 4k on a nice set of 19s and suspension upgrade.

Hey, Ska - I'm in the market right now for the XI

But to answer your question - you're comparing apples to oranges - the E90 325XI is a sedan while the 328XI is a coupe. Different design features and the coupe also comes with several features standard, like sports suspension and xenons.

The increase for the 328 is less than half that. They will be nuts to charge $3000 for that. I stand by my 1500-2000 prediction (not counting the fact that an 800 base increase will probably happen due to standard xenons).

Don't forget that the $3K increase for the 328 is compared with the e46 325 (184 Hp). So the HP gain is almost 50. For the 335, from 225 to 306 is actually 82 Hp. You were comparing I guess the e90 330 sedan engine, which was never made available in the coupe.

So in fact I submit that the real issue is BMW has perceived a ceiling in pricing the base coupe (335) north of $40K, since based upon the HP gain, the differecne could have been move like 5-6K.

We should compare who gets the better deal. My car priced out is $47,500 + 695 destination is $48,195. Invoice pricing is $43,310 + 695 destination is $44,005. I am very good friends with my CA, and he said the sales manager already knows they are discounting this car for me. He can usually do 500 over invoice but I'll bet he has to give me 1000 over invoice. I am looking at 45k for this car. AWESOME!!

Yeah, I was comparing the sedan numbers. I think $3000 increase makes sense for the coupes, considering what they were coming from. But, if the sedans increase by $3000 as well, that would be way out of line. They are already half way towards what the 335/328 sedans will be, so I think an increase of about half the coupe increase is in order, (again, not counting any increase for extra equipment like xenons).

hi everyone,

it's my very first post...i tumbled onto this forum while doing some e92 research. I've always been an import fan...japanese and euro. I heard about the new coupe being release in early Sept 2006 and saw alot of nice photos of it. I am sold on it... but the price seems to be discouraging.

i love coupes..and always been into modifying them to look sleeker and aggressive with larger wheels and lipkits. The 335 will be the perfect car for my future mods ... but price seems to be abit steep. I mean at $40k base price... u're exploring a new plateau of the $40k range cars.

I really like the overall design and possibly the performance..but $40k base seems abit high for a 3 series coupe. with moderate accessories... u're prob looking at $46k easy

Its hard to bargan when you get to the front of hte line....I wonder if I will have any wiggle room as #1 on deposit for the 335i.... I imagine not.

I could give up the slot and wait to bargan... but who knows when the next allotment will be.... I'm strangely impatient on getting this toy LOL I do not thinkI will be at the top of hte "best price on E90post" list LOL ~Frost

jesus christ what dealership is this. 1000 over on a new coupe what a joke. They ruin it for everyone with stupid low pricing. I am so tired of all of these dealerships giving cars away. If we all charged sticker or 500 off we would get it. Why on earth would any dealership be so stupid to give a new car away like that. Im not mad at you strazz as I hope you get the best deal but your dealership is crazy IMO.

ED starts at under 40K.

I bet the people who said it would start at something ridiculous like 50K are feeling kind of stupid though.

The volume dealers just want to move cars. They don't care about you. It's not like 500 off MSRP would have lasted well past the first run. This isn't a limited edition car.

Awesome
My dad is looking into a 335 for about $46k but he will probably wait until the 335 sedan comes out to compare.

Except for fold-down seats which are $475 extra on the Sedan.

So where’s your dead accurate prediction on the price? I wouldn’t call anyone out unless you have gone on record yourself and your prediction was accurate.

I feel pretty good about my $39,999 prediction when it came in at $40,600. Not too bad being off by $601 and posting the prediction back in the beginning of April based on what we knew at the time. Its not like those just under $40K predictions were thousands off like those thinking it would be $42k, $45k or $47k. I think if you are within $1k that’s a pretty good prediction.

WHO CARES!!>! If you purchase a 335 w/o options then, IMHFO, you can't afford the car. Sooo...with a couple of options you are in the mid40s quick. Tack on tax etc and this will be a car with niche demographics. I predict lackluster sales in 9mos due to price vs. market competition in this price point. Its moot for me - I want the M sedan.

I don't have anything productive to add, but I'm just REALLY glad this whole process is finally over. Now all the uncertaintly is gone and we can all focus on dreaming about our future E92s!

btw, I also predicted about $40k (despite taking some serious from some posters). Glad it's just around there.

Thanks to everyone (especially greg) for all the inside info the last several months!
