BMW also gave the M2 a semi-dry sump system which pumps oil from the front of the oil pan (#2) back to the rear of the pan where the oil pickup is (#6): If only it wasn't so expensive to retrofit the M2 oil system... The accusump at least guarantees you never see <40psi oil pressure. You rarely see oil pressure loss at max load where you need the 80psi. You usually see it mid-corner or under heavy braking which are both scenarios where you will either be completely off the throttle or only partial throttle. Oil accumulators work. I spoke with Accusump engineer directly recently and he walked me through a ton of different uses. Last edited by bbnks2; 08-01-2018 at 03:18 PM.. |

Is it more of coolant leaking into the oil or something falling into the block? I've seen a few videos of OFHG DIYs and for those who don't drain the coolant it seems that a lot of coolant could easily get into the oil

I just posted in your other thread. Did you only have the OFHG replaced, or did you do the oil cooler gasket as well?

FYI, having Xdrive has nothing to do with having an oil cooler or not.

I think all sport package cars come with the cooler.

It has nothing to do with Sport or M sport either. It's a "hot climate" option thing, if it has that option then it has an oil cooler. And the paddle shifters are optional as well.

There would be no need for an oil thermostat without and oil cooler.......

Hey but guys another thing to keep in mind why on the N54 wouldn't it seize if something is dropped while doing OFHG job. Is it because N54 engine rod bearing a tougher or?

Plenty of N54's seize up from rod bearing failure too. But there are always different variables and in no way is it a real problem as it's still a very small number. No one knows if there is even a broad issue on the N55 as most of the failures occur on modified cars and keep in mind that only a small fraction of owners use forums and even then people who have no problems at all don't post up to say everything is fine. Lot's of variables.

Found a specialist in my area that was recommended by a few people on FB. Will have him do as thorough of an investigation as he can without really breaking the bank. Either way I know I'm going to be spending $$$
