I had good luck with the Goodyear F1s, so I'm strongly leaning back to them for the Asyms

I don't know why no one in the BMW world runs these, but they are the best balance of all-season high performance, cost, and treadwear. I swear by them. Check them on discounttiredirect.com |

I run Hankook V12 Evo's in the summer on my stock 197 staggered setup. I went from stock Bridgestone runflats to these two summers ago. The C&D review is spot on for these. Under normal driving conditions, they feel pretty soft which makes for a comfortable ride and they're very quiet and take potholes well, but once you get aggressive with them they really stick to the road like glue. Wet traction is great too.

I'd also recommend the RE-11s. I have a set of RE-01Rs for autox/track days and have nothing but good things to say. Wet/Dry traction is suberb, no noise, and good wear characteristics for a performance summer tire. From what I hear, the revised RE-11s are even better.
The selling point for me were the sidewalls. They are incredibly stiff which helps to limit sidewall deflection during cornering. And with cars as heavy as ours (my xi is a pig at close to 4000lbs), it's worth its weight in gold. |

Good thing I didn't put my summers on last week. Came pretty close to saying "screw it" and just doing it last Friday since the weather was so nice and I was home early (rare occasion).

Nice poke indeed. Looking forward to seeing the E36! I'm sure you've been busy working on it since we detailed it ages ago.
