I'd have to say the coated and wrapped headers made it possible along with the AA tune and to a lesser degree the BMW PI and PE.

i do not think so. The length of hose may impact MAF placement. The ESS would relocate alot of stuff

ESS kit has its own silicon intake hose.

It's a fluke- an impressive fluke, but a fluke. The car was adapting on the dyno while they were running it. Impressive none the less.

Not too bad. If driveline efficiency is 80% it puts the net crank output at about 275hp, give or take. But that doesn't really mean anything afaic. Interesting to note though.
Multiply your results by 1.1 for dynojet comparison.

Fluke or not, at least we aren't seeing a drop in power. I shelled out my $60 and ordered one. I figure, for $60, it's worth a try.

there's so much I want to do.. however my rear taillight failed... that's a 600 dollar fix that isnt covered by CPO and my car is in the shop right now because my LED angel eye resistor melted and everything turned off one thing after another...

but I think I'll still splurge and get this

Edit- just bought it

Can't overlay them but here's the original baseline dyno. Car had BMW PI and PE installed.

The car doesn't have a wideband onboard so they couldn't do any additional tuning. So I'll be making some wot runs with BMWLogger running. I can email the Lambda files to the shop and they can determine if it's worth doing. If so it'll go back to the dyno but this time I'll remember to bring the friggin' cable. Maybe we can scrape up a few more hp here and there. Or not. Either way it's all good.

Not really although I'll agree the results are _not_ due solely to the change in intake coupler between the airbox and the intake manifold. Couldn't be. It's a naturally aspirated engine so only the engine can increase intake charge and the only way that happens without changing the cam, etc. is by improved cylinder scavenging which the headers will do if they're insulated well enough to keep the exhaust gases as hot as possible for as long as possible.

The adaptations were actually audible where they show up as short oscillation-looking portions of the curves. Some adaptation takes place over the runs but it's relatively small. I would suggest the improvement is due to the headers getting hotter and hotter with all the runs. The baseline shifting up to 209hp tends to support this. As does the 214-219hp drift up after the intake install. But it did take time to do the install, not a lot but much more than between runs so the difference does appear to be real but it's difficult to gauge just how much it is in absolute terms.

Really doesn't matter. The DL1 can produce hp data now that I know the exact weight of the car and can simply enter the atmospheric parameters for the run. Assuming the coast down data for rolling resistance is essentially negligible. No way to prove that short of a coast down test though.

DL1? Go on, you have my attention.

As for as N/A E90s go - your car is the only one I fear meeting at a stoplight (*cough* when my car is running right)

A Race Technology DL1Mk3 datalogger. It has the gyro, 20Hz GPS, and 30 channels of CAN options. It's connected to the PT-CAN now but I need to configure the 21 channels I have data for.

Here's a screenshot of a lap from the last HPDE although I have no idea why I lifted on the front straight.

Torque and power output are computed variables available to be plotted, etc. but they're not on this one. And this is the only one I have on file although I've no idea why anymore. Oh yeah, I have the third party video option and IR LED synchronizer so the data and video can be sync'ed and displayed simultaneously in the analysis window which is what this is. Also allows export with overlays with data, etc. Ain't MoTeC but it gets the job done.

[edit] Oh yeah, forgot to mention I don't race on the street. Much. I've wrecked too many cars and bikes doing stupid shit and too old to not know better. Well, I keep telling myself anyway... [/edit]

Can you send me a log of your 3rd gear at WOT including your car weight, I want to plug it into virtual dyno.

Unless someone left a brick in the stock pipe, it simply isn't going to gain 10hp.
