If you have any good BMW specialists around you can ask them. Dealers obviously won't do it without a code but independent specialists might, that's how I got it done. The guy didn't believe it would work but he was willing to try, and it did.

I did mine last week too. I have 98G1B ROM and dme had 8666658 and updated to PPK zusb: 8666678. I have the MEVD17 ecu. Automatic n55 e92 built in late 2011.
Didnt have to downgrade my ROM! Although I may have joe@topgearsolutions downgrade it to 98G0B and flash PPK for the 98G0B. (So i can use cobb again)

Just a note:
I can flash the PPK, and have done it on a few cars. For some reason though, my car makes less power with PPK then non PPK with JB4 ISO. My AVG IGN is lower as well. Only thing I can think of is possibly the DME and JB4 ISO fight more with the PPK DME. If you can flash your car easily, I would run a back to back comparison.

Lol Joe installed mine, like I said it does burble and pop, just not as loud as some of these videos. I want it obnoxious loud! I don't have catless installed, but my VRSF catless downpipe arrives in the mail tomorrow, so I'll record the difference before I install that!

Get your catless downpipes installed and you will hear it, it will be a massive difference. Add a performance muffler or straight pipes and you will hear it

I have BMW PE already, as do some of the amazing videos above, but they might be catless straight pipe, because they sound rediculous!! Downpipe arrives today, should be installed within a week!

Sounds good. Does the Xi have a normal 335i badge on the rear?

Yes, the newer ones are a 335i Xdrive, not a 335Xi like the earlier ones.
