Your on the wrong sub forum this is for the stereo and entertainment section. You want to be on the general or motor sub forum. I would suggest you get a Bimmergeeks diag cable and download and set up ista D and P as well as the Inpa coding.diagnostic and coding suite . The following links will be some help. Ista is like an diag and shop manual Ista is the program that BMW used in there shops for most of the life of the e90. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ electical e90 pdf http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...,d.cGU&cad=rja http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...85464276,d.cGU http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16 http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=378 Might be the HPFP problem mentioned so much. You need a BMW specific scanning system to get all the codes .(Such as Ista d) general forum http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333519 Mahlo. Hi everyone,
New to the forums. And BMW for that matter. Hope this is the right place to post, since it appears I can't make a new topic yet... I'm working on replacing my factory stereo and stuck on one factor. Every install video I have seen (as well as the instructions in the box) say that I should have 1 antenna cable running into my factory stereo, but I have two. One that has a mostly purple cap and one that has a mostly black cap. Any idea which is the proper antenna cable I want to connect to my new stereo? Thanks in advance for the help! |

So a couple weeks ago I hit a massive pot hole and my rear right strut came into my trunk area. I unfortunately had to drive my car to work until parts came in and my amp harness looks like this after the top mount chewed through the harness.
I'm planning on soldering the wires back to together but unsure of what gauge wires I need for the amp harness. I assume I have to use the exact same gauge wires so if someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great. I should add that I have the Hi-Fi system. |

Why not strip them back a little then attach them.

Why is there not a diagram for the basic sound system?
Door speakers WITH underseat subwoofers but without the amp in the trunk and no wiring etc What are the speaker wire colours for that? Would the colours match with the same system for an e70 or e71? |

I have a 2010 E60 535i with Hifi (USA)
My front and rear speakers are powered from the head unit and the underseat subs are powered by a small amplifier in the trunk (boot) on the left side (tweeters in front sail panels, mids in doors, speakers in rear deck, underseat 8” ‘subs’) I’ve tapped into the low level wires in the harness and made RCAs to provide signal to a new subwoofer amplifier… But I would like to see a wiring diagram for this setup so I can tell which wires are which for future reference… (found the low level left and right, and the turn on lead which were all I needed at the time) I want to eventually amplify the rest of the system and I’m looking for an ‘easy’ route even if it’s a small 4ch 75 x 4… and I wouldn’t mind giving some more power to the underseat ‘subs’ and running them as a true midbass driver Thx!!! |

This layout is similar to mine, but the amp is a silver colored small amp in the rear driver's side (left side) of the trunk/boot I'm just trying to figure out if the amp is JUST a sub amp, or if it's more... I was told at one point that the interior speakers are powered off the head unit, and the subs are powered off the amp, but I'm trying to verify... if it's more, it'll make it easy to power the system with a better 6-ch amp in the trunk and maybe a DSP unit... if the amp is JUST for the subs, I'm going to have to fish wires throughout the car to add an amp HiFi The HiFi system was standard in US-spec cars until MY 2010 (when it was replaced in some cars with base Stereo) and again starting in mid-2011. There are tweeters and an amp, but no graphic equalizer settings in the head unit’s user menu. The amplifier has analog inputs. Pre-2010 HiFi amps are large black modules. 2010 and later HiFi amps in E9x vehicles can be small metallic-colored modules. 2006-2009 E90 sedans Later 2011 E90 sedans 2006-2011 E91 wagons 2007-2009 E92 coupes Later 2011 E92 coupes 2008-2011 E93 convertibles 2008-2009 E82 coupes Later 2011 E82 coupes 2008-2011 E87 convertibles 2004-2010 E83 SAV 2006-2009 E70 X5 (includes center channel) Later 2011 E70 X5 (includes center channel) Later 2008-2010 E60 sedans (Note: early E60 sedans have an unusual hybrid system called “HiFi” – please contact us for information about these vehicles). |

BMW's did not come stock with true Subs' the under seats are midranges.
All the knowledge here is 99 percent based on E9x's . And there where no BMW sub amps in the e9x . Run mdecoder.com on your vin option number 676 = Hi Fi option 677 or 688= Logic 7 if these numbers do not appear it means base system . There is also a system above Logic 7 called Individual audio I think it's 752 or something in the 7xx range there is a thread on it toward the end of the list. The graphic equalizer was only in the Logic 7 system for e9x . The Hi Fi amp went from black to silver after they reinstated it for the e9x . I have no idea what they did with the 5 series. May the Farce be with you. |

Then you can assume it has the 676 Hi Fi wiring .
That diagram should be it and I don't imagine they would change the color coding . |

My question still remains though… do I have the 6-channel amp, or is the amp only powering the underseat woofers with the head unit powering the mids and highs I’ve been getting mixed messages I posted my question in the E60 forum DAYS ago, but no one is responding… I’m posting here because at least it’s active here |

yes it's 6 channel amp at least in the e90 and below. They don't generally redesign
the stereo system for every car . They use the same one for each series up to the upper ones and sometimes even there. That is why the same option numbers come up in VO from the mdecoder search. You could put the model number or part number for the amp into a search on the open internet and you would be able to verify that . If you need absolute further proof . Disconnect the amp connector an use the wiring diagram at the beginning of this thread and use an ohmmeter to verify the wire runs to the speaker. |

Well…, just so you know… I found out my answer last night… it’s a two channel Harmon/Becker amp (40 x 2) powering the underseat woofers, and the rest of the speakers are powered by the head unit Not that it necessarily applies to the E90 but BMW obviously DOES change up Meh Thx anyway… back to the drawing board Last edited by Dark Vader; 09-24-2023 at 09:24 AM.. |

Have you looked into which years this schematic covers?
Around 2005 and 2006 they had a distributed system like this in the Logic 7 cars and then it changed to the same one the across all series . You should go to the e60 stereo forum.(If there is one) Or do searches under E60 stereo https://5series.net/forums/e60-e61-p...nstall-124141/ Last edited by ctuna; 09-24-2023 at 05:19 PM.. |
