Has anyone had any trouble with the iDrive understanding you. I have never had any luck with any voice command stuff. Just curious before my car comes in.

So far it's not too bad. For me though it's waiting for the prompts I have trouble with. I'm a little too fast.

Year? Model? Nav type?

OK, now I see you're in the UK - I think our systems here are different - I had/have the "professional" system, bu I don't know what "addition" means.

In any event, to add an address by voice commands, I would use the command, "ENTER ADDRESS", then the system would guide by voice prompt to enter the STATE, CITY, STREET, etc. on it's own.

Thanks fo the response.

Yes i'm in the UK.

My problem is not entering address, the system works the same over here although the headings (state etc.) are different.

My problem is that once in the address book i can't seem to sellect the address as my destination.

Regards,

Robert

PS my post had a typo it should have said 'Professional Edition' not 'Professional Addition'. Sorry about that.

Have you tried the command, "FROM ADDRESS BOOK"?

Thank you for the suggestion.

I have now tried 'From Address Book' and the system than comes back to me with 'Enter Destination Via Address Book'. So far so good but unfortunately it is downhill from this point.

For this example I am using an address titled 'Fast Lane', however i have tried other entries in my address book.

So I have tried saying the following with success
1. Fast Lane
2. From Address Book Fast Lane
3. Fast Lane From Address Book
4. Via Address Book Fast Lane
5. Fast Lane Via Address Book
6. Fast Lane Enter Via Address Book
7. Enter Via Address Book Fast Lane

So at that stage in need to resort to taking my hand of the wheel and selecting Fast Lane via the control.

Any advice gratefully received.

If you have "FAST LANE" selected, then use the command, "START GUIDANCE" while the "FAST LANE" is highlighted.

Maybe?

The problem is that i have the Address Book sellected but can't seem to sellect an address (Fast Lane).

The only way that i can make it work is to manually sellect Fast Lane, then i can say "Start Guidence" and it will start the journey calculation.

Robert

I'm guessing this is a "Contact".

Say "Contacts"
Then "My contacts"
Then "Fast Lane"

Selecting the "number" of the entry doesn't work? I know it does on the LCI, but not sure of the older version. May be worth a shot?

E91 from 2006 does not have button next to I-drive

Hi all!

This is my first post - I am about to become a proud owner of a 2006 E91 325D, with Navi prof.

I am importing it from Germany because I have a fully equiped car and spare quite a lot since the tax in Denmark is totally insane (180% ).

Anyway, my question is about voice activated commands. I am looking at a car which has the button on the steering wheel, but not next to the "Menu" button behind the I-drive controller. Does it then have all the voice activated commands just like it has when it has that button?

Thanks for the help.

Jorge
