I had the kuda prior to this and I know exactly what you mean, the mount near the start button had a good quarter inch gap that I couldn't get rid of no matter how hard I tried. Right now I have the usb cable come up near the center vents and the trim is holding properly in place. The problem with the button is theres too much of a gap between the button contact on the mount and the buttons on the tablet, so you have to press really hard to make contact. I had to wing the dimensions since I didn't have an accurate model of the tablet to work with. A quick fix was to stick something to the buttons on the tablet to fill in the gap (in my case I used the soft side of some velcro. Works well now, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the buttons in the final iteration since I won't be printing another copy for myself and I don't want to put out something that I haven't tested. I just finished routing the usb cable today, adding the DAC/hub, and mounted the magnets again. Still working on finish of the mount, lots of painting and sanding that I'm not very good at, but it's coming along nicely I think. |

I stuck an nfc tag near the top left corner of the mount and programmed it to turn on the hotspot from my phone. Other than a bit more sanding and polishing, I think there's not much left to update other than seeing how it holds up as time goes by. Also need to adjust the magnets a bit to close up the small gap along the sides. Magnets at work: Last edited by 7786; 08-26-2015 at 02:56 AM.. |

Please write back and let us know how it goes, what you do for fixing it to the dash, etc. It looks like it's as developed as it needs to be and as it's going to get, so I'll probably order one myself sooner rather than later.

7786 it looks like you took down the first shapeways link, did you upload the slightly updated design? I'm about ready to get one and modify to taste.

Just came across this thread as about to start nexus 7 integration project myself!
Really like the look of your work and really would like to purchase! I'm happy to do the spraying etc and have all the work to finish but your concept is the best I've seen. Love the magnet attachment. Makes it easy to bring tablet indoors for any modifications or software updates etc. Please get this back up on the Website so can purchase :-D Would love to get my hands on one Well done for everything you've done so far! |

Anyways I added a link in my sig, it's a bit pricey for what it is so I only recommend getting it if you know what you're doing I'm also looking into making a two piece design that will hook up to the center speak/vent, for those who want more of a "plug and play" solution. No ETA though, just playing around with some ideas for now.

Is it angled slightly towards the driver then?
And I'm not familiar with 3d print design work but in the software is there a mirror function that would flip it round to be the right way for rhd? Or is there basic template you could send that I could use to make a wooden cutout equivalent? |
