My guess is jegs hasn't sold one in a while and since its a non stock item, they will find out they are no longer available when and order is placed to zex.

update.
i've ran tank after tank, not one issue since the install. ran it to "--- mls" before each fill up. i put a minimum on 250 miles on my car every week. one of my weekly commutes alone is 220 miles. this week alone i put ~350 miles on it so far. i will be pulling the assembly to replace my fuel injection hose with a plastic tube - just for experiments sake. ![]()

Just throwing this out. Boost concepts is 350. And he was talking about the "overpriced" fuel-it kit that's 400. Yet makes one 50 cheaper?. Just find it funny.i need a stg 2 myself, and was looking into options. |

Me too, I just ordered the pump and have a spare bucket to play with. Im thinking about just throwing it straight in and not hooking up the Venturi - Theres been a few people that have done that and id like to hear from them...essentially bucketless but in the bucket lol
350 USD = well over 450AUD landed and the pump costs $160 delivered... Its economics though He has to get the pump, get the bits(fittings and hose cost 40-50US then he has to assemble and ship by the time he does all that its likely costing him 250 and has to sell at 350 to make it worth the time and effort. He’s running a business and i get that its not a charity..

I bought a 100 dollar replacement fuel pump on Ebay. The bucket pops apart with a flat blade screwdriver. I installed my Walbro 450 easy as cake and hot glued the bucket on top of snapping it back together. I then cut off a Bundy fitting from a used fuel filter and hose clamped it with the supplied hose with the fuel pump kit. I'm essentially running a 450 in a stock bucket with no venture....works fine all the way down to the gas light comes on. Of course, I wouldn't go road racing like that. FYI. I have about 220 in it.

I think the price used to be a lot higher and that its come down because of the added competition.

Im looking at my own DIY solution. Im planning on using nylon fuel hose and oetiker clips. Theres a company called BMRS that makes an o ring to -6an fitting. Im planning on a tpiece off that with push locks on either end. On the Venturi side its 90 degree push lock and nylon down do the venturi and oetiker clip to secure it. I plan on heating the nylon so that it bends around inside the bucket. It will almost be as neat as the ones that Steve makes. Ive got a second hand bucket to play with so if it fails I can slot the original back in. Ill share some photos of my journey.
Mean time, a link to the BMRS fitting and how its used - NSX project car is a cool thing ! http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticl...-Assembly.aspx Also http://jayracing.com/index.php?main_...ducts_id=75065 Does anyone have any thoughts on the plan so far ?

Here's my effort. I bought the Radium engineering fitting on the pump. I used a simple -6 AN o ring fitting t piece, i used two -6an flare to push on adaptors and although the photo is of a 90 push on barb im going to use a 90 degree dorman 5/16 to push on nylon tube bought as a single piece and already fitted. only 1 hose clamp is required so theres less things to fail.
In all it could be done for the price of the pump +75US. It's cheaper than using a holly fuel mat but not really by much and you could in theory just use the pump output with the radium fitting to a 90 degree push on which would be cheaper again.

For anyone in Australia interested in DIY with Venturi adaption I have almost all that you would need bar the radium fiting for the pump
In the meantime I'm going Venturi less and using a hydramat

FYI if anyone is building one and needs to know what the line is on the left above my post. It is a Dorman Nylon line.
Also, anyone find any other good DIY's or got any feedback? |

I just did this after reading your thread. Followed your instructions almost identically. Very easy install for someone willing to put in some time. Took about 3-4 hours all together. Ran logs doing some hard pulls and the car runs great. I will update if anything comes up.

I know this is an old thread.......but I'm going to revive it.
Getting ready to do the Walbro 450 DIY in the OEM bucket.....and I'm wondering if any of you guys who cut the bottom out of the bucket and didn't plumb in the Venturi have ever had any fuel starvation issues. I'm planning on using the BMP 90deg Walbro fitting to hook the limp directly to the OEM fuel line connector......and then cut the bottom out of the bucket. Is fuel starvation going to be a concern? I've see where some guys say don't run under 1/2 tank of fuel....where others say they can run their tank damn near empty....and have no fueling issues. Looking for some real world experience. Thanks!! |

Maybe running bucket less with a hydra mat is better than the cut open bottom but if it were me I would never run without a Venturi, ESPECIALLY if you daily the car. |
