Yeah, I'm quite pedantic too and wouldn't trust anyone else to work on my car.

Haha you should take a road trip to Melbourne sometime and do some of the epic drives we have here. Bring your car in for a walnut blast while you're here.

It will probably work fine but I wouldn't do it on my car. Silicone doesn't work well under abrasion where theres stuff rubbing up against it. Replace like for like in my opinion.

This stuff is local and inexpensive. Just buy 3 meters of it and you'll have plenty.

An SA member needs to buy up the tools and start blasting cars I think.

Port injection might prevent carbon build up but wont be enough to clean any deposits already on the valves. A lot of the time I need to chip off the hard bits with a long screwdriver.

Also port injection only kicks in at high loads so if you're cruising, fuel isn't being sprayed into the intake at all. So you'll have to have a heavy foot to clean the valves lol

Can get away with not doing any custom fab work, I just some of my own fittings to avoid waiting for shipping from ebay so I could get up and running sooner.

I have since upgraded and simplified most of the fittings on the machine to off the shelf parts. This reduced the number of junctions in the wand and reduces the chance of air leaks and makes the tool shorter and less bulky.

All misc fittings/adapters can be bought off ebay. The only thing that was custom was the bent blast nozzle and the adapter that attaches the N54 port adapter to my vacuum cleaner.

If you are not fussy you can just duct tape the n54 port adapter to your shop vac.

Bent nozzle is just more convenient, but a straight one can be used (and can be bought straight off ebay), just little more difficult to get everything clean.

I'll come up with a complete parts list of my setup and update the first post. Then you can just buy the parts and just screw it all together yourself.

That's be great because not only does no Indy ships do this but they won't even do it if I supply the equipment sooo looks like a back yarder diy for me .... If
You could even do a video of the process you take that would be the tits 👌

Bavarian auto has a decent diy on YouTube. I found that pretty helpful:

You don't need to prove the pcv vent hose like they do in the video though

Advan charge $495 and asps91 has a kit in Sydney.

I personally clean them manually by hand, no need for fancy expensive tools, just allow a full day and you will be sweet!

Yikes, that will be a tough job haha.

I wouldn't be able to do it by hand, my back gets tired even with the blasting equipment. I usually have to break off the hard bits of carbon with a screw driver and do a 2nd pass with the walnut blaster. The engine is quite far back into the engine bay and you have to lean over quite a bit to scrape the valves.

Can't imagine how tiring it would be leaning over scraping all the valves manually after an entire day. It'll be cost effective for sure, but it'll be pretty hard labour

I've had a bunch of cars with 60k kms come in with big lumps of carbon on the valves. My recommendation is 40k. Every car is different though. Scotty's car had well over 100k on it and looked cleaner than a lot of the 60k cars.

I think last time we took your intake manifold off it looked pretty oily and there was a bit of crusty stuff on the valves but nothing major.
