1.Steering feel,Audi feels heavier, exterior is too bald(except tt and r8), bmw has better sittings position, RS models doesn't offer manual.
2.Navigation package included in the standard price and front and backward parking assist. These should be standard options in 21st century....
3.Yes, great guys no complaints really.
4.Ordered and waiting for M2 delivery. But the next logical performance car upgrade if money allows it in the next 3-4 years would be R8 V10 plus. If I step away from purchasing sport & performance cars, I think that new X4 would satisfy my family needs.

1. After cancelling my CLA 45 order (FWD based and crazy $) was down to S3 and M235. M235 was available sooner and the S3 styling was quite blah in my eyes.
2. Didn't get tech package and the USB port in the armrest does not support audio just charging. Highly annoying. That and/or full bluetooth support for audio would have been appreciated. Hate the stock wheels too wish there were options available. TPMS vs Audi's system also mandates a second set for winter wheels which is an unnecessary expense.
3. Love Main Line BMW, both sales and service. Would be a major factor in deciding to stick with BMW.
4. RS3 next fall, exterior styling still kind of bland but updated interior with Virtual Cockpit (which is awesome), 400+ HP and AWD (which I need since moving). M2 RWD not an option and don't want another M235 but in xDrive (already bored with current car).

You'll typically only see that comment on enthusiast forums and in enthusiast magazines. The majority of U.S. Consumers (90% ?) are in line with SA, and prefer automatics.

It's honestly just a fun factor. For folks who enjoy driving a standard, even though they are all objectively slower by a narrow margin, it's more engaging and enjoyable. Something like the most modern hybrids from Mclaren or Porsche even use the electric engine to fill in the gaps from the gas engine when shifting. Depends on the car though as not all auto trans are created equal so on a case by case basis a standard can be better.

Is it possible that people in SA don't get to try both during their test drive ?

It's difficult to explain, but those of us who like it, simply find it impossible to give up manual transmission. We (well at least I do) feel that manuals are more involving to drive. Yes, even with modern automatic boxes being fractions of the second faster, smoother, more refined than ever, easier in congested bumper to bumper traffic and even better on gas mileage.

In several threads on this topic, I tried very hard to avoid saying manuals are "better", just a matter of personal preference. I get to drive both frequently and will always prefer manual, as long as it's available - not the right choice for everyone of course.

1. For my last purchase, I was choosing between Audi Q3 and the F48 X1. Q3 is nice, but the model has aged even its new to the US. Not sure why Audi Q3 did not bring over European version of Q3 with the new 2.0 TFSI engine and the S-tronic transmission. Instead in the US we get the old engine and old 6-speed tiptronic transmission. If Audi can fit the next Q3 with the same advanced technology as what's in A4 and the updated engine and transmission while keeping the same driving dynamic, the Q3 can easily be a better car than F48 X1.

2. Head-Up Display as an independent option. Apple Play/Android Auto.

3. Enjoyed my experience with the dealer very much. That is after couple very disappointing experience with couple other dealerships.

4. Audi A4 Avant/Allroad.

1. Why did you choose BMW over Audi? a friend had an Audi, he hated it with a passion.
2. Name 2 features you wish your current car had at the time of purchase. HUD, Euro LED lighting.
3. Overall do you like your experience with your dealer? Local dealer sales and service are both very good.
4. What are you thinking will be your next car purchase? hopefully it will be a while, next car to be replaced will likely be the X3, something with xDrive, preferably 6MT and touring (more space like the X3). Won't be an X3 as they are only available in auto now.

1) Manual transmission
2) Rear-wheel drive
3) excellent power to weight ratios

I don't care if audi uses VW engines (the engines are great and that is what matters).

TBH VW/Audi engines are stellar and my favorite thing about the marque. VR6, Inline-5, V10 etc., But yeah driving dynamics is where BMW usually outshines.

Here's my logic. Audi and VW are owned by the same company. Volkswagen is known to be a lying , cheating company. Their diesel scandal is outrageous and should bring the company down. They are ruining the environment. They lied and cheated. I feel bad for people that own their products. They are going to lose tons of resell value.

Oh and on a side note, Audi doesn't really make manual transmission cars anymore. The new S4, no manual.

Yes somewhat. I had a '91 Billiantrot/Beige 2 door with a manual gearbox. Dumped it on H&Rs and got many a strange look as I blasted past cars (and some trucks) through several inches of snow. Only got stuck once, and that was because I had the car lowered and the snow was a bit too deep and the undercarriage of the car wasn't quite high enough. Fantastic car, I still kick myself to this day for ever selling it.

1. Rear wheel drive
2. Cup holders with the little spring loaded cup centerizer things (whatever they're called) and rear vent windows like on an E36/E46 coupe
3. Great. BMW of Idaho Falls is a low pressure, no-nonsense type of place that'll sell you a car at TrueCar pricing. Unlike every other dealer I've dealt with I can't think of anything negative to say outside of petty nitpicking.
4. Too early to tell.

1. Never a question for me, always wanted a BMW.
2. Heated Seats, Backup Camera
3. Had a very good experience with my dealer, BMW West in Houston.
4. My wife wants a small SUV for when we have grandkids. I want her to get an X1, but she wants a Honda CRV. (We've always owned Hondas with great success)

Will you share the research with the forum? Might be an interesting read. Good luck.

VAG = Very Aggressive Guy?

you're more likely to have a guy that's into cars approach you because of whatever car you drive than a girl.

1. Because the Z4 had RWD instead of FWD like the TT, 3 liter inline 6 naturally aspirated engine instead of a often breaking down piece of shit 2 liter TFSI sewing machine, lookswise in a different league by lightyears, is not a redesigned VW Golf built in a Eastern European Country, because the pure white design in my Z4 is so much better then any audi trim to date, sounds and drives much better than the tt, and because I would never buy a rebranded Volkswagen Chassis.

2. S65 Naturaly Aspirated V8, a proper audio system ( solved the last one, installed Jehnert)

3. I had a great experience at the dealership.

4.Since I got a really great offer on a 2016 C63 Amg Coupe (22% off) I might be leaving BMW temporarily. I am also highly interested in the M2 though.

1. I did a lot of research prior to my m3 and the two main competitors (for me) were the s5 and RS5, the S5 didn't have enough power and the RS5 was so rare I couldn't find something in my price range. After more research it seemed that the Audi's weren't that good in comparison to the M3 in the areas that mattered for me either, so M3 was the winner, even if I had a bias for it from the start.
2. More Torque, white halos.
3. Dealer experience isn't bad, they are slow but being under warranty I don't seem to run into a lot of problems.
4. Hard question. Seems Porsche is the route most M owners go if they want more power/speed/handling but I still am not sure if that justifies the Porsche price point so..in short, probably a supercharger and a beat up Honda.
