so you can not clone ecu from junkyard unit? not possible? the burden of proof is on the dealer. they must prove that stock ecu in the car caused the damage. audi put tamper screws on the B6 A4 but that did not stop people from buying new tamper screws and using cloned ecu which you can pickup from smashed car.
I was asking do you have the skill to clone the ecu? Simple question. If so you would have a very powerful sales feature. Trust me under warranty my B6 A4 1.8T had the original ecu, original injectors, toolkit, vag-com/laptop in case of failure. Luckily it never failed but i was ready to tow home, replace ecu; clear all module codes (low voltage) and send it in AS it came stock. They can argue all day long about scratches and this and that but they cannot say the stock ecu caused the failure. The dealer could have caused those scratches or perhaps in transit prove it. Just asking a straight forward question; can you clone an ecu perfectly (immo/serial/etc) or not? I understand it may be difficult for many tuners but it is not impossible. If you can clone a SIM or CAM you can most certainly figure out how to clone an ECU.

1. What boost are they running? Taper toward redline? 2. I would like to see rpm based A/F ratios 3. What fuel are the dyno's done with If you think it is safe to run more than 15.5 psi race gas or not, then I think you are having some serious problems understanding what the stock turbos can handle. Unfortunately no compressor maps are available, but it is starting to become apparent from pushing the cars that it is not advisible to run 16, 18, 20 psi with any mods. |

Stage 1 looks like a nice tune. Stage 2 seems to be critical to me for the 6AT's ( close to 600 NM torque ). It is possible to get 373.5 chp out of the engine using ~ 510 NM peak torque ( my ecu tune ). My next goal is to see 380+ chp and the same peak torque by getting rid of the OEM FMIC. I'll stop at 400chp / 350whp.

I doesn't hurt that my ECU in the Audi takes about 10 seconds to remove. Very easy. I had to send my ECU out 3 separate occassions. Never had any problems.

I sent the ECU from my 996 out on a Monday, the flash was done late Tuesday and I had the ECU back in my car by noon on Thursday. For a few extra dollars in shipping I could have had it back on Wednesday.

i just drove to APR in opelika with my audi. got a nice tour and met the developers and got to see their inconel (lathes/cnc) and tons of go fast parts. it was quite cool. while I was waiting they took the ecu out (free), put their emcs chip in (no directport existed back then), gave me a drink or two, spent time out of their very busy day to answer my questions, put the ecu back in, gave me direct instructions (read from the manual) and showed me how their cruise control stalk worked (emcs chip allowed map switching while driving; very cool). They directly participate in many forums (like REVO) and have had pretty agressive tunes and functionality above and beyond anyone else for years.
I think having a core tuner group in the usa is key (like dinan) and a superb network of distributors for success.

On another note, wouldn't those big ass fans also make for better #s compared to the ones we have seen with the "mickey mouse" setup? |
