GAME OF THRONES: The Final Season! [Trailer] Ongoing Discussion Thread

TBH, I was a bit underwhelmed. I know that they are setting up the season, but with only 6 episodes, I thought the pace would moved a bit faster. Also, I thought I read that the episodes were going to be longer. It was only 60 mins once you take out the intro and show wrap at the end. Does anyone else think that the news of hearing that The Night King has the dragon and destroyed the wall should have been more of a dramatic reaction from Jon and Dany?? They didn't seem that shocked. Oh well, lets just go on dragon ride together! I thought I was watching a scene from Harry Potter.

Came back from dinner at 8:30, no recording.

So I'll watch it on demand tonight. Luckily killing Eve was very entertaining.

I heard that DirectTV leaked E1 a few hours early and it played for about 48 minutes before being shut down.

SPOILER ALERT!!! - At the end of Season 7 as everyone was walking into the dragon pit at King's Landing, Tyrion makes a crack at Bronn about being the queen's lackey. Bronn fires back with "I'm delivering a wanted traitor to the Queen, so I think I'm doing all-right." To which Tyrion reminds Bronn "Whatever she's paying you, I'll pay double." Hmmmmmm. Season 8, Episode 1 has Bronn being given 2 wagons full of gold to take out Jaime and Tyrion with a crossbow. My hunch is Bronn either kills Cersi directly and collects his double payment, or, is somehow deeply involved in orchestrating her death.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. And for some reason, I think Klyburn (sp?) is going to do some double dealing. Remember, he was rescued from Harenhall by Stark Forces after being left for dead by the Lannister Forces.

No matter how it works out...The Game's Afoot!!

Don't feel bad. I just left them and switched to Cox/Contour and the same thing happened to me on my first recording. I just made certain it wasn't a critical recording...unlike yourself. You know what's next:

Agreed, Qyburn will get the last laugh. He was a crap PM on the Crown, but his role's much better here.

Disappointing episode for me honestly, but then again hard to live up to the hype I guess. With only six episodes total this season, I was very surprised to see the slow pacing of last night's episode...not to mention its length! I thought I had read somewhere that each episode in the final season was to be nearly 2 hours in length. Perhaps I read it wrong?

As a HUGE fan of the series and have watched the series multiple times... This episode one was a slight letdown. The most eye popping moment was towards the end with that not so subtle "wall event".

The episode did cover lots of ground on west to expect though. Either way... A Man is happy it has returned...

With only a 6 episodes, they each should be 1.5hrs long and 2hr Finale. Sadly the longest will be @ 82min with most @ 60-80min

Jon always thought poorly of Cersi sleeping with her bro, but he's just a bit removed from sleeping with his sister. What is this, 1975 with Luke and Leia????

I don't think it was a waste of time. It was showing the Dragons' acceptance of Jon, which will probably help him believe the truth of his lineage.

Just thought I'd chime in and clarify the relationship between Daenarys and John for you guys, not that it makes any difference lol... But she's his aunt not his sister. I was kind of disappointed with the episode, especially since I thought I heard it was going to be 2 hours long. But overall it was a great intro and I firmly believe that none of us will be left wanting in the end... Now if only we could get good old George to finish the damn books, we can have something else to look forward to, considering that the show started to deviate a bit more each season after the Red Wedding... So for those of us that read the books, there's probably a different outcome in the works and it will be something new and exciting.

I think the dragon knows Jon is a Targaryen, that's why he approach Jon in S7 and allowed Jon to pet him, then ride him this season.

John is the son of the previous heir. Daenarys is that same heirs sister. A son's claim is stronger than a sister's claim. John is HER nephew, but since he is Rhaegar's son his claim is stronger.
