I actually prefer the look of the current interior. The new one is too busy; and I'm not a fan of the ring around the shifter.
Oh, and on both generations - the ebrake sucks. Do a proper leather boot on that, the plastic handle looks so cheap.

Whatever the SL65 loses in the chicanes, the SL65 will dominate during the sweepers and straightaways. You can change the Lotus to Civic Type-R if you like. A better handling car can easily be overtaken by a car with power. Obviously this example is a big extreme. You can have a great handler and still be slower. The driver can suck with a car that has high skidpad ratings. Look at Renault's 2003 and 2004 F1 seasons. They were considered to have some of the best aero and mechanical grip, but their lack of power prevented them from winning many races. Only on "slow tracks" like the Hungaroring and Monaco (2003 and 2004 respectively) did they win, where HP isn't as big as a factor.

Who would consider making this their next car? My sister wants to buy my E92 in a couple years. I love the fact that this will be around 3000lbs and the VQ engine is rock solid. Handling I'm sure with something this light will be superb. I'm single, so I could care less about rear seats.

Many of the G35 Coupe 6mt have motor issues i.e. engine knock/oil consumption. A guy I know purchased a new one in 2006 and right off the engine sounded terrible. He thought it was a bad tank of gas but it was actually a bad motor. A year and a half later of back and forth trips to the dealerships and calls to Infiniti the engine was replaced. The 2nd motor is better but still exhibits engine knock and oil consumption. Some people have traded theirs away in disgust and frustration with Nissan but he kept his and admitted it was the worst car owning experience of his life. It was believed to be a faulty oil ring on the NEW VQ motor, the one that is called the high rev VQ which is in fact in the newest. Most believe however it is much more than the oil ring considering even after correction the problem was still around. Google VQ35 Oil consumption...and read.
IMO it is not something that I would consider buying, and mainly because mod potential should you get the desire to just isn't there. Aluminum blocks do not like boost and this one is particularly weak. I think there are better cars for the money surely and even in stock form I would not shell out the cash required to own one unless I was absolutely in love with them, which I am not. |

What is your budget and what do you want out of your car. I can help you a great deal with this considering I have done extensive break downs of practically every car made in the past 15 years

Budget is probably up to the same pricing as my 335($43k). With my transition to the darkside comes a lot more pay, but I'm not about burning cash. As far as what I would like to do with the car, I want a rock solid engine to mod and gain a substantial amount of power. The VQ appealed to me because of handling, the weight of the 370z, and lots of people here have turbo'd theirs. If the N54 didn't cost so damn much, i'd love to mod that, but I can't drop $15k if it blows up.

-Does it matter if it is new or used? If used is ok, how old is the oldest you will go with? -Does MPG matter? -AWD/FWD or RWD, which do you want -How many seats do you need? -What kind of weather do you need to tackle? -What cars do you find attractive and what cars DON't you? Name a few of each -Do you want modability or are you just going to leave it stock or do bolt ons? -How deep do you want to mod? -Put in order these attributes, important to least important: Power, Handling, Fit and finish, Sexy look. Ok start, I will check back in a minute. |
