I can certainly understand and appreciate this.

I've reread some of your post and you are right about one thing that I didn't catch earlier.. It works great when transmitting ascii data between two devices. I was able to do this with no problems with pin 7 & 8 tied together.
Throw in the procede and I'm back to square one.

Doesn't it seem that, considering the 50 other vehicles supported by the Interceptor, someone somewhere would have done this by now?

How are you certain that a wifi solution will work?

This is certainly where I defer to you.

BTW, when are you wanting to head up here?

I'm certain because RailGun has done it and posted the model that works and the link to purchase it.

BTW, the new bluebooth stack I'm using is working better. I can see the CTS and RTS being turned on/off. I never saw this when using the broadcomm stack. Doesn't bring me any closer, but it's nice to see feedback when I'm connecting from the procede reader. I got none (at least from CTS/RTS). I did see flickering LEDs on the data line with the boardcomm stack, but sometimes I see it and sometimes I don't... so who knows...

Was specifically thinking a RS232-Bluetooth setup (not back-to-back), but wifi too for that matter. If a wifi setup works, we know that virtual com ports can work and a "real" com port is not required by the Reader software. So problem is either with the particular BT virtual-com port implementation (SPP), or with the GBS301. Here's another one that does v2.0, has onboard LEDs, and is low power. Lower price here.
This bluetooth usb does not even use a bluetooth stack - it just presents a virtual com port. I'm thinking either just one of these two, or both together might work.

Class 1 Class 1 bluetooth RS232 adaptor 100Meter DB9 Serial Com Port Adapter

That's right the baud rate could be configuration through the AT command,

It was a bit difficult to find, but I found it and it was on clearance.

Has anyone gotten this to work on their procede?
Gary
it is very simple to start wroking, just following up the user manual.
One more thing, please make sure your devise have HyperTerminal for Configuration Start-up through AT Command.

Best regards

Configuration Start-up

I considered going with the wifi-rs232 like a member on this list did, but it was over $150 (and the one you linked to is $200). My solution, if I can get it to work, would be more less than half the cost.

I finally got the adapter working. I can now discover the device and create a virtual connection to a device (procede), but the procede will not open the com port. It will say: Unable to open COMXX (COM11 in my case).

Also, after two minutes of inactivity the channel shuts down. There must be a timeout parameter I can adjust.

If I resolve the "Unable to open COM11" problem, I'm set (i think ).

Anyone able to shed light on this problem I'm having? I seem to be able to hyperterminal to that com port with no problem (will hyperterminal complain if I can't connect to a com port?).

Gary
for this Bluetooth wireless Serial adapter. for Configuration Start-up, your device must have HyperTerminal system. Windowx XP and bellow including the HyperTerminal syetem.
maybe you can check the this.

I tied pin 7 and 8 (rts/cts) - same result (doesn't work).
I then tied pin 1,4, and 6 - same results.
I'm tying the pins on the iogear side and break the connection going to the procede's db9 (it's not connected on the procede side so it doesn't matter anyways).

Now I wonder if I have other issues - I'm sure my GF thinks that.

I spent as much for adapters and the breakout box as I did for the iogear serial bluetooth adapter!
Most of devise the pin9 will could offer power . if the pin9 could't offer power. you have to use DC adapter or mini usb cable for power.
