to me anything that doesn't look like it belongs in the car is termed ricey to me...For instance a honda civic with the a pillar trim molded for three guages is ricey..especially with a engine that has no work done to it!!!lololo

Exactly... form > function... The very definition of "rice".

The point of this gauge is to display a ton of important information in a location that you can look at while driving. Function > form... This is anything but rice, you just don't like the location.

Just because something has good form, doesn't make it rice either, as long as it serves its intended purpose.

Why am I even entering into this convo... LOL
Neither solution is "rice"

Parts usually consist of excessivley angular bodykits, large rear spoilers, neon, sponsor stickers, chrome rims, fake "coffee can" exhaust tips, and loud, annoying paint jobs and/or vynils. Sometimes parts are do-it-yourself installed and are basically duct taped to the car. Most commonly known for being done to Honda Civics, but can also be done to slow domestic vehicles, such as a Chevy Cavalier, etc.
"Yo dog, did you see the Civic that guy was rollin' in? it was so rice."

"This guy's got nothin' under the hood, it's just rice. Smoke him."

"What a riceboy, I bet he thinks his neon adds 50 bhp!"

me neither....

nah but really... um.. the location is good, but i agree on looks... maybe it's just the photos, but the giant hood thing over the top of it is what i think i have problems with... it's like it's trying to fit it, but not well enough...

i'd almost rather it without the hood... .. too bad it's so big or our start button is so small.... push gauge to start... eh. ok.. maybe not...... but still no or smaller hood...

regarding the vent... if i was going to put it where i can't see it.. .i'd go with the glove box or center console or ashtray or something....modded vents don't look so good IMHO.......

Shiv,

Is there enough wiring/hosing provided for people who like their gauge in the corner of the dash by the windshield to put this one there?

I wonder if this could be incorporated into the display on the BMW Perf steering wheel.

Awesome stuff, the freude am fahren factor is way high. I agree that a fitment that looks seamless BMW M would rock though.

And Shiv, I am surprised that you have not swapped out the steering wheel for an M wheel.

Just ordered this gauge. I love the idea, can't wait to get it. How do people like it that have been using it?
Shiv, you have these in stock and are shipping them now right? Any idea on when mine will ship? I'm assuming tomorrow and I'll get it in about a week.

Hi guys,
The production of the mounts ran a bit behind schedule. Now it should have them by the end of the week. I already have all the gauges programmed and ready to go. So just waiting on the hardware. As soon as you see your cc card charged, you know that it's ready for shipping! We should still be able to make the Nov 23rd ship date

Cheers

ok so it should be leaving u the 23rd? Is it possible to hook this up to a wideband somehow? From what I read a wideband reading is something that is useful that wasn't listed as a feature.

so what's going on, are they shipping soon? Just wondering if you have an update on when you think they will be shipped since it didn't make the nov 23rd date.

Right now, all I'm waiting on are the mounts. According to the machine shop, they are still 1-2 weeks away But as soon as they arrive, everything will be ready to ship. Everything else is here and ready to go. I'll update this thread when I have them in my hand. Sorry to the delay. Kinda odd that we have rev.2 ready to ship before our gauge.

Boost will be perfectly accurate. So will fuel trims. Ignition timing won't be accurate in the absolute sense. Meaning that it doesn't take into account whatever timing offset the JB3 induces. But monitoring it will give you all the info you need with respect to spark retard activity. If/when you see obvious "drop outs" of advance, you are getting know. You will also see the advance numbers go up when you run race gas. Useful thing to monitor when trying to get the most out of the tune.

This gauge is really well placed for having a quick look at it. Good job.

can other displays be daisy chained onto this gauge like other PLX products? can a aftermarket touchscreen be used instead/along with the monitor? maybe even the PLX datalogger.
