my price
I got $1000 off MSRP on a 325I with almost no added features. A loaded 325 should get $1500 - $2000 off and a 330 should get even more. Bought mine at VOB in Rockville MD. Tischer was closer but they play pricing games. VOB was very straightforward and pleasant to deal with.

$1500 above invoice
Howdy. New to the posts here. A member from bimmerfest.com as well.
I paid $1500 above invoice (not ED) in Los Angeles. Asked dealer to take out all the fees (including doc fee and any other fees except license and tax) and include one line on my paper that says : dealer profit $1500. Makes live simpler for all of us rather than playing stupid games with them trying to decipher what advertising fee or wash/ wax or undercoating fee is all about (since they are essentially additional profits/ markups for dealers). Ended up paying MACO though..I know some guys in Edmunds and Bimmerfest forums did manage to wiggle out from that as well, but I wasn't lucky enough. From my research, people are paying between 1200 to 1800 above invoice. Some guy actually got $800 above invoice, which was incredible. Most dealers need MORE than 3% profit. (Calculate that from your final invoice price BEFORE desination charge). But if your dealers around your area are competitive, you can find one that is willing to charge you less dealer profit. The key to negotiating is to let them know that what you are willing to pay is not a bullsh*t number, but a fee that you've arrived at after meticulous research. And don't waver from it. Getting the $X above invoice is half the victory. Make sure you scrutinize your paperwork to make sure you are not getting charged with additional so called " mandatory" dealer fees. Nothing is mandatory, everything is negotiable. (unless of course its Tax/ License..) My car is 2006 Black Sapphier Metallic 325i with folddown seats/ nav, sat, Premium pkg, xenon and premium sound. |

BMW assist is not so good either. They can only track it if the engine is on, or within 10 minutes after killing off the engine. The way I see it, if they want to steal the car, there's not much you can do. One way people seem to be able to protect their car is via a kill switch. |

I have a question for all those out there that got a build to order, did you negotiate the final price at time of order, or time of payment (usually 14 days or so before pickup)? Thanks.
This question applies to both US and Euro delivery. |

Thanks for the post. That is interesting, I thought people finalized the price when they did the order. I wonder how many people order first, and negotiate later?
HRC, did you not talk to the dealer about pricing at all when you ordered and put down the deposit? Maybe you were just very familiar with the dealer and were confident you would end up getting a good deal in the end. Quote:

I, too, negotiated the price for $1500 above invoice. Put down a $500 deposit on my VISA card, didn't even sign anything. Now am just waiting for the car to arrive at my dealer. I could do what HRC does, which is to try to get the dealer to come down more on the price after seeing the car when it comes in. If they don't want to give me a lower price I could walk away (Technically) and get my deposit back. Even if they don't want to give me back the deposit, I can still dispute it with my credit card company (which is why never put down deposit with cash..) However, the thing is, if I am really SET on the particular car I "built to order" and I walk away from my 1st dealer. I will have to negotiate with another dealer for that particular car and that means, he might charge me extra to transport that car from my original dealer's lot to his lot. The other alternative is to build a new one and play the waiting game again. I am not sure how I will approach my case as my car takes delivery on the 28th June. Since my sales person is way cool, I might just tell him how the market has changed and people are getting $1000 over invoice, I will ask him to throw in as much freebies as possible to make me feel better! |

Re-negotiating?
On principle, I would not try to re-negotiate it. It's what I offered and it's what I'll pay. Part of the reason that I am so turned off by athletes who sign a contract and then want to negotiate after a year or sit out of camp.
I wouldn't want my customers at work to agree to a price and then try to re-negotiate. It's one thing if the dealer screws-up my order.

Just came back from Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley NY and got $1,350 off MSRP. I payed $33,000 for 325i with manual, heated seats, sport package, sat prep, metallic paint and xenons. I dealt with Brian Sorce and he was very pleasant with me and even had to talk to his manager to see if he could get me a lower price (I asked if I could get $1,000 and he said that was easy and he'll see if he could do better). All in all i'm very pleased and he said my car would be here in the 1st or 2nd week in august.

I have to still complete my paper work but did get the PO from the dealer.
Passport in MD. I think the invoice runs about $1000 less then the quote. It sounds like a usual deal but I cant wait to get the car and dont have any patience for price hustling. |
