Nice job team! Calvino, you gonna do a good DIY for the switch? Are you gonna use the rear fog switch so it's all clean looking? So with the switch, it ONLY lights the Angels, minus the side markers? Sorry for the barrage of questions.

///Matt, what's yout take on the saftey of the mod overall?

Can't say till it's been tested.

And the rear-fogs switch will not work. That's not a true switch, it's just an input to the FRM. It sends a digital signal which tells the FRM (footwell) to turn on the fogs.

If you want to use the rear-fog switch, you'll have to figure out which wires from the FRM go to the rear fogs, and tap into those.... but then again, you can ONLY have fogs on when the headlights are on, soo.... no go!

I open my old light control ( I got the one with the fog lights) to see if it can be modified it can't is not a switch like Matt says.
What I'm thinking of doing is retrofit a swich like this one http://www.cardomain.com/item/PILPLSW15G intro the left part of the lights control that is empty( see pic) I was thinking of a push switch but then I realize that I need the new switch to have a small LED so I know that the halos are on and to remain me of turn them off went I get out of the car

probably by the end of this weak I will have the DIY posted :rocks:

Cal! be sure not to run the power for the angel eyes through that switch! You need to use a relay.

no sir, you need a Relay so you don't burn your switch. If you don't want to wire a relay, and LEAST put a low-amp fuse inline between the power source and the switch, like a 12a.

I don't know if your switch can even handle 10amps, tho, which is what your LEDs are pulling.

yes, it can CONTROL any 12v. But it can only handle so many amps of power going through it before it burns. Trust me, I've done it! lol.

It can CONTROL a relay, to turn the lights on.

sigh...

Um. get the relay and the relay harness that that site recommends. They are both good.

I will explain to you after you get the relay EXACTLY how to wire it.

I'm a trained professional, kids, so don't try this at home! This is how I make my living! I'm a BMW technician, Calvino.

Just letting you know, cal..

I went and bought a relay, and some wiring, and some connectors, and basically everything YOU'RE going to buy, and I spent $50. And I'm not going to use any of it, because I've abandoned the re-wire idea.

So go with at least $50. lol.

Be sure to get a four pin relay, a LOT of wire, like at least 30ft, and get a bunch of male/female speed connectors, SPADE type, NOT bullet... and some electrical tape.

oh, and I'd use 14 or 16 gauge wire... be sure the spade connectors you get match the wire gauge... I'm probably still forgetting something.

Matt since you work at a BMW center I want to know if there is any way that the guys at my dealer can raise my speed limit (I don't have SP) but I got 4 new tires Bridgestone Potenza RE050 that are W-rated do you think they can raise my speed at 155 like the SP?

well going back to the halo lights problem I found another switch that says that is rated 25 amps at 12VDC does that means that I don't need the relay

You want the relay. It's a safety device. Use it.

Also... yeah? we can raise your speed limiter... but we won't. =) It's against BMW policies, so... you'd have to find someone who was willing to threaten their career for you. Good luck! =)

I recommend waiting until someone like Dinan (just an example) releases a "top speed de-fencer".

well I'm going to try to ask the guys at the BMW dealer in downtown miami they will do anything if you pay them

you see I will not have any of this problems if I could change my 330 to a 335 with SP I don't have to worry about the halos because the 335 use them as runing lights I don't have to worry about the orange reflectors on the headlights because the 335 have them on the side so I can remove them or paint them :rocks:
but I don't have 45K to burn

so I guess I will have to stick with my 330 that btw is posible to retrofit the 335 steering wheel w paddles to my car ? ( ohh also add that to the list above)

I've heard the steering wheel is able to retrofit, but haven't tried it.

As for the sport package deal...

It's not as simple as pay them. It's intense hacking.
