How difficult is it to focus on the relevant fact: the IS costs 7k (6.2k invoice) more than standard, 5.4k more than ZSP, 3.9k more than M-sport. Makes as much sense to post 'wow, my 335is (ED invoice) is only 45k, how stupid is buying a 328 (loaded vert) for 60k'

Some of you seem mesmerized by "only 20 HP". First off, it has >25HP, plus 370 ft/lbs torque overboost. That is + 70 ft/lbs more. Lighter flywheel. Sports exhaust. Aux radiator. Improved H2O pump, fan, other cooling parts. 313 rims, SSK or optional DCT. Lots of M-sport goodies. You want to bitch about whether all that is worth several k, fine, that is a worthy argument. So is 3-series overall pricing. But comparing the IS to GTRs and P-cars as price equals? Seriously?
+10000 It's amazing how many of these price comparison threads have popped up recently. Makes me wonder if any of these people who purchased a new 335 should have just bought a used barebones 08 m3.

streesdoc, now you make me feel bad for ordering 2011 335XI

Like I said before, comparing dollar-for-dollar between brand new and used cars is just that.

Completely agree. If you want crazy pricing just visit the Porsche site. $700 for red instrument dials!! BMW looks sane compared to these guys.

you did lie. You said EVERY OPTION. How is that not a lie? Just making a point that people post deals they get here without the correct information. You did not get EVERY other option did you?

Also no reason for the name calling. Are you not old enough to be past that yet?

True, but a 2011 M3 Coupe (with 6MT, no pricy options or unnecessary electronic gizmos, etc.) can be had for about $60k.

I'd buy a (nicely-equipped) base M3 over a loaded 3-Series any day.

Did you also include the Gas guzzler Tax? Personally for everyday use and no track time I would rather have the is. If I was a track guy then M3 everyday, all day..

Yes, the MSRP for the 2011 M3 Coupe is $60,575 including the $875 destination charge and $1,300 "Gas Guzzler tax".

Invoice is $55,905 (including destination charge and Gas Guzzler tax).

I saw a 2011 335i convertible in person. my o my, car on front on, looks extremely gorgeous, sporty and sleek to my surprise. Back was good too, but beauty is front on. It was parked right next to a 2010 coupe! Just a limited face lift can change personality though. I can not wait for 335iS in person viewing, esp, black exhaust, trims and black mirrors ! But bigger mirrors in std coupe do not get into notice!

I figure for that price you can get a loaded 335is without the navigation. For me the Is would be the better fit than a totally stripped M3, but I'm NOT a track guy at all.

Fair enough.

My 2004 E46 M3 came pretty much "totally stripped" with heated power seats, Xenons, metallic paint, and 19" wheels as the only options. For the money, the M3 was far superior to the top-of-the-line 2004 E46 3-Series (the 330i ZHP). The M3 offered a better MotorSport engine, suspension, driveline, exhaust, LSD, etc. The price difference in 2004 was significantly more though, with the MSRP of a well-optioned 330i ZSP at around $40k and a stripped M3 at around $48k.

Based on the price difference between the E9x M3 and 335is, I think the E9x M3 is an even better value today. The E9x M3 is definitely the superior car for the money.

I agree that M3>335is. Its a better car but I wouldn't want a car that stripped down. For the way I would configure an M3, it would be closer to 70K so for me the 335is fits my price range and my desires perfect. I may even get this for my next car.

not expecting much it seems.
As usual, no one wants to call clear winner in either one of these so let's compare 4-door against coupe, why not S5 vs 335is.
