That is utter BS. Clap and themyst units went out almost immediately and I don't think the pure concentration of meth was the factor. I just increased my meth volume to 90/10 and the failsafe has been soaking in that concentration for at least a week. Just took the car out and it works flawlessly. I just think they have defective parts in their failsafe

Yea im sorry, but my last failsafe lasted 8 hours, that includes the car sleeping over night. MAYBE 4-5 pulls on meth. It was reading low to begin with, but I said screw it. Woke up the morning, went for a ride, got on it, no flow according to the unit. I'm running meth, not acid.

The flow sensor is chemically compatible with 100% methanol. You can run it at room temperature all day long with straight meth and it will work like clockwork. Unfortunately methanol boils at 147F (something to consider when running straight meth). It only takes a few hours for your fluid to get hot enough inside your tank, to cause the insides of the flow sensor to warp. Once this happens, your flow sensor will never report flow again until it is removed from the fluid and allowed to dry out. If you keep running 100% meth, you will play this game all day long. By leaving 30% water, the boiling point is raised enough that this will never happen. This 30% rule is not a guess or a "I think". its 100% tested and proven. It took many, many, many tests over many, many, many months to nail this down.
Lastly, as pointed out from a manufacturers point of view that running anything more than a 50/50 mix is dangerous from a safety stand point, for those of you that understand and assume this risk I BELIEVE that running 100% denatured alcohol (and possibly 70% meth 30% denatured alcohol) will likely be fine. I dont have enough data to be able to say conclusively that 100% ethanol is ok, all that data that I do have in limited testing tells me that most likely the flow sensor will not overheat with ethanol even at 100%. It will not damage the flow sensor to try 100% ethanol, so any of you that dont like water, its safe on the sensor to try it. The CMGS/VC2 systems clearly offer the most cutting edge design and features for the money in this market. With the small size of all parts and components there are a few limited tradeoffs. Personally, I would never run 100% meth I believe that 50/50 is the best mixture. Having said that, we work hard to make products that can satisfy the needs of a wide variety of enthusiasts and will continue to do so. We built the CMGS/VC2 platform with the idea that we can integrate different accessories/sensors into the package. Things we have not even thought of some day we may have as an option... CM

AEM has the coolest system out right now.... they use the same flow sensor as CoolingMist, just different software. They brag how they are also 100% meth safe but recommend a 50/50 mix as well. Beleive me...nobody has had to hear, listen, and learn more BS about flowsensors than I. Hell, not having one got me banned from n54....
I bought one I knew would work with my current tune and its upgrade.

Eitherway I dont run 100% meth, but I dont run 50/50 either. I have no problem running 70/30 but the fact remains its bologna a methanol failsafe cant run methanol only LOL |

Hi guys,
It looks like these failures are isolated due to a change manufacturing process. We're getting to the bottom of things right now to ensure this doesn't apply to the kits that we send out. Take comfort in knowing that Dan at Labonte is very quick to remedy the problem if it were to arise. And yes, these failsafes are 100% methanol compatible. No mixture is necessary in terms of hardware longevity. But we still recommend at least a 80/20 mix for other reasons (charge cooling, safety, etc,.) Shiv |

I surely hope Dan goes back to the old manufacturer or parts. If this 4th replacement flow sensor fails, I will go ballistic.

I too have called Labonte for Customer Service and they are quick to address concerns and go the extra mile to make sure that they have operating equipment in thier customers cars. I love my progressive controller and i am not looking forward to rewiring the whole system for my new controller. I will have to run 3 more wires the length of the car for the pump and the float meter.

Update on the IFS-30 issues:
Dan at Labonte states that new redesigned boxes are on their way from a new manufacturer, and he will fully test a few samples through 100% meth @ 300 psi prior to sending them to a few test subjects (myself being one of them).

Well I hope you guys get this sorted out! FYI i had my mixture of 90/10 soaking for about a week now since I havent started the car in over a week...Took the car out for a spin and flow was even better for some reason...steady 15-16!! lol Before it use to rock around 14-15, I have no idea why readings today showed 15-16, but it def works...Car was an animal! Timing was superb also with new mix! I also took it out because I wanted to see if there were problems with misfires past 6300 rpms and you know what nothing!

I've been running my new fail safe for a little over a week now and knock on wood it holds up this time. I run a 80/20 mix. I never see a flow over 11. Is this okay or should I be seeing higher?
