Oh boy...this new OBD2 port method sounds real awesome! I've been following your posts about reading absolute MAP from the OBD2 port and I'm wondering if by introducing this method, you've developed a way to forgo intercepting the vacuum lines. Just curious

Is it possible to make a gauge for the vent right of the steering wheel? Is it difficult to make?

I think users would be able to see the gauge easier, especially since my left hand blocks the view of the vent while driving.

Thanks.

Do you currently have the first gen gauge? If you don't just FYI, it doesn't block.

No, I don't have the boost gauge. I wanted to buy their gauge, but when I hold my steering wheel with my left hand I can't see the left vent at all.

I guess part of the reason is that I really pulled the steering wheel out to myself since it's more comfortable to drive with my seating position.

Hey guys... keep the questions coming, I will try and answer all of them!

We will not be changing the location of the gauge at this point, we have had great results with the current location and our customers prefer it because its so easy to install in that location compared to ripping apart half your dash to get to the center vents.

More info and photos coming soon, if you want I can post a photo of what the diagnostics port connector where we tap onto the canbus looks like... its very low profile and at a right angle so you see no wires since they go right up under the panel. There is nothing you could bump your foot or leg on, the connector is completely recessed.

We will also have a version that lets puts a plug and play harness inline on the port so its completely open still for other devices(you just need to disable the gauge so it doesn't interfere with diagnostic tools, there is a mode for that.)

Is there a certain manufacture cutoff date for the OBDII CANbus features to work?

We have built a dual function hardware system that not only works with canbus, but also with the older interface that the early 2007 model year cars have...

The basic gauges will work, however, data will be slower... therefore its better to use the canbus if possible, so we are working on a way for the early 2007 cars to tap the canbus elsewhere. Its really pretty dumb that they didn't bring the canbus wires out to the obd2 socket on the early 2007 cars, considering that the practically the whole dang car talks on the canbus

That would be very good, as I need the BT tool and the GIAC mapswitcher to be able to access the OBD port. Count me in for one of these then!

Cool! It's definitely a good thing to keep the port open, so our passthrough plug will do the trick perfectly.

Yes, pre march 2007 ... early 2007... I had a 10/2006 build 335 and it didn't have canbus on the port, but the 2007 cars built after march seemed to.

The canbus still exists on the cars, its just not on the diag port... regardless, our interface supports k-bus as well.

Hey guys, just a quick update... I am going to post a simple video of the gauge and the new features tomorrow...

Some things I will show in the video:

- Switching through the gauges
- Peak recall
- 15 second instant datalog/playback
- Code reading
- Shiftlight

Can't wait for you guys to get your hands on this, I have been having way too much fun with it If anyone has any ideas for a feature for the gauge, let me know... I do all the programming... so send your ideas my way if you want to see something end up in the gauge!

I am first in line!

Did you talk to Vishnu or BMS about possibly integrating this new gauge in with either tune?

Ya, a little bit... Don't want to lock myself into adding features that make people think they need a specific tune, so I am thinking about how best to approach that.

We want to be open to ALL users... the gauge is even a great tool for stock cars because of the extra features like performance timers, code read/clear, and the gauges that the car doesn't have.

I hope the shift light is bright enough for the day time. Also, performane timer, is that like a Vbox type of feature?

It's not blinding, but it gets your attention... it uses the entire gauge to flash on and off at full bright. The fast flashing can be seen out of the corner of your eye.

The gauge itself is brighter than version 1 also, not that anyone was complaining.

Performance timer, yep, basically measure 0-60, 60-100, etc...

60-130? That's a big benchmark these days.

Yep, can do...

the gauge will default to doing 0-60, and you have to hold the peak button to switch the timer mode to do 0-100 60-100 or 60-130... don't want to tempt people to break the law unless they specifically choose that option themselves by reading the manual (and the disclaimer) then enabling those other modes

But yes, the gauge will allow you to do 60-130
