Could you just confirm, whether I summarize correctly:

You had before OEM-wise a MULF and a TCU and replaced both devices by a new combox Telematics, right?

Some additional questions:
Did the Assist function work directly after combox install?
Do you have option 6NF installed in your M3?
Do you need after combox installation the new multimedia snap-in adapter to connect the iphone to the car?
Can you access Video files in your iPod/iPhone over USB?

As far as I know did you the first successful retrofit in the German-speaking area.
It would be brilliant if you can start a short diy threat in motor-talk.de.

Wish you a relaxed Sunday and enjoy the combox functions.

br,
Matt
hi matt

i had bevor the mulfII/TCU 1.5 config and replaced them - created a wiring diagramm for the combox.
the assist fuction doesnt worked directly after installation - but after coding all needen parts, it worked with the "old" account. vin coding is needed in the combox.
6NF is available in my car.
i installed the combox multi media adapter for the iphone 4.
video function is not available with official software at the moment (i think bmw will bring it out 9/11)

i will create a paper to do the combox retrofit, also a MT thread is started.
lets discuss there in german

Could be possible to create a thread in this forum at least with the Combox Telematics harness wiring connections, please?

Thanks

Sounds great.
I will reply to the MT threat to discuss there.

Just 1 point.
You mentioned that you directly coded upcoming 6NR option.
Do you know hardware requirements for this?
For instance its just a new snap-in adapter or also a new base plate or something else?

Matt

what helps the pinout when your telematik combox is not working?
you are not able to programm ECELL you wrote.
and over the most it still will not go to work.

pinout is not difficult.

there are no hardware requirements for 6NR.
only a new snap in adapter for the iphone 4 will be sold, with a fan in it.
listening to web radio let the iphone get to hot.

base plate (eject box) was chanced in 3/10.

Not to thread jack, but are you saying that the upcoming 6NR option beginning after 3/2011 does not require hardware (beyond a new base plate) for the upcoming apps features, ipod out, etc? Will this just be a software update to the Combox?

So is this the extent of "hardware" changes being assumed in the 6NR option stating next month?

Is this wiring just another connection from the existing 6FL to the Combox?

Rear camera not working

Hello,
I have everryting working now except the camera.

They say that i have an old module and camera (from 2006) .

This is very strange because my E71 is from 2009.
Anybody can help me with install of an new oem camera?

I don't have any suport from www.bmwretrofit.com because this is a new thing for them, because this is a old module.

In the first part of asking the guys about this camera and cic install they say this will work for sure. Now they say is a new thing for them ...))

Iliescu,

This I do not know. We never did such installation until now. We will be very happy if during your installation you could take some pictures and we could have these as a reference at a later time.

I assume you will need to change some wiring too because old camera module may have different wires coming to it. We do not have any vehicle with old camera system like your to test it here. We have only two new E70. One is E70M and another one is regular one. Both are 2009 and 2010 year but cameras are new on both. It is customers vehicles who was doing CIC installation locally here.

Thank you,

Alex

Anybody can help me please?

So from what I gather from this thread non-combox 2011 BMW models with nav/BMW assist /tcu1.5 can be 100% upgraded by swapping in the combox for tcu and minor wiring changes? Also, it is more than likely new BMW connected-drive will work on march pending a software update? If so, this is huge news as many features are added with combox.

I have an E60 LCI 2008 with iDrive and CCC Professional, with Assist, Online, Telematics, phone cradle, Bluetooth.

Dealer retrofitted me a USB Audio Interface (USB + AUX in glove box under the cradle, supports iPods with standard cable and iPhones with Y cable). This required to install additional "ULF High" module and update the CCC software to the latest version.

I'd like to retrofit to CIC + Combox, but want to keep all my current features. From the retrofit, I'm particularly interested in "BMW Apps" and "iPod out" feature. User Rezi said here that "iPod out" is unstable at the moment and therefore disabled?

1) If I retrofit now, will it be possible to update software later to support "iPod out" or does it require a new set of hardware?
2) Does your current retrofit solution keep Assist, Online, Telematics?
3) How does maps update work (with FSC codes and without them when custom chip is used)?
