Oh and BTW, I was doing the test drive and pushed it up to 15 psi, and POP! It was a loud sound and it sounded metallic. Oh no!
I totlly thought I popped a valve.
Then I kept driving and my engine was running fine but when I hit boost is sounded really funny and I had no power.

I got home and looked all around the engine bay.
The elbow from the IC was off.
I forgot to tighten the clamp Whoops!

Whew Bet that was scary at first.

For those with meth and a remote reservoir if you run a bottle of techron fuel system cleaner + 3oz marvel mystery oil and fill the remaining reservoir with pure methanol and then go beat the shit out of the car on a low boost map till the reservoir is empty. you will get rid of most or all of your carbon deposits without having to manually clean the valves

This mixture absolutely eats away the carbon and should be safe in meth pumps!

Had same issue twice now, and they just cleaned mine under warranty. Also did it at 25k.

They cleaned mine with a media blast (walnut shells I believe).

Interesting idea about the meth/Techron/MM oil mix in the meth tank for cleaning valves. I did a mechanical clean on mine about 6 weeks ago (just after I bought it), and the carbon was 10x worse than the pics in this thread. It was caked on so badly, it took me 6 hours start to finish, 3 cans of carb cleaner (better than brake cleaner for carbon and varnish), and about $20 of gun cleaning brushes from Wal Mart. Screw doing that again! I am going to buy the BMW walnut shell blaster for the shop.

The critical ingredient for cleaning off this crud is polyether amine (PEA). Although manufactured by a Chevron affiliate, there are quite a few products with higher concentrations of it than Techron fuel system cleaner. I'd check out Redline Sl-1, Gumout Regane and HKS Direct Deposit Remover.

Im going to go off on a limb here and see what you guys think about using CLP to help break free the carbon. We use it to clean our weapons of carbon in the Marine Corps and it works well with a good set of wire brushes. I know it would leave a film as well since it is an oily substance, but I imagine carb cleaner could take it off easily if it's a concern. Who knows, maybe the film would help prevent further build up?

I wonder if it would eat up aluminum, like Oven Cleaner... if so, I wouldn't try it.

+1 thats is why these engines have so much build up , the fuel is directly injected and does not pass through the intake port and over the valves.

has anyone tried this? i got a big bottle of techron and i got meth using WW reservoir. but i don't wanna be the guinea pig lol.

So how did it run after? I wonder just how important it is for the intake tract before the CC to be spotless.
