That's the wheel!

Thanks for posting it.

I will be more than glad to do spacer/wheel packages for you guys, if you are interested in purchasing those wheels.

Also, if you guys are switching wheels out often, may I try to convince to go with studs?

They are cheap, and a great investment for anyone trying to run spacers and swap their wheels out every once in a while.

I run it on my car, and I fully believe they are worth it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

thanks.

SG,

For stock suspension, would you still recommend the same setup as what you have? Sry, I tried to read everything but it was a lot of info, thought I'd just ask. Thanks.

An 8.5" ET38 is conservative and will fit any suspension set up, including stock. I would recommend it. Go back and read the whole post when you have time.

Anyone ever figure out if the Kosei K1 in 17x8 will work with the E92 sport package? I'm thinking of getting those. $169 is hard to beat at that weight.

However when my OEM (335 sport) tires on my OEM rims wear out, I would move the winter tires to my OEM rims and put a set of tires for the track on my (previously) winter rims.
Any thoughts on this?

Hey, Don!

LTW has a new wheel coming out which is called EmPower. It's a 18x8.5, looks like a CSL, and weighs less than 20lbs. You should check it out and see if is worth distributing. I'm considering getting a set when they are released.

LTW lists a 18x8.5 on their site, but they don't seem to offer it. I'll bet there would be a pretty big demand for that size/price weight. Maybe you could talk them into manufacturing some...

Would I be able to run a 245/40 Hoosier slick?

Will the 17x8.5 size LTW clear the front brakes on a 335i?

Bump!

A year later, any updates on what has worked/not worked? I may be in the market for a square setup for track only, non R compound, as I'm more interested in learning slip angles than ultimate speed. (I just attended the Thunderbolt BMW CCA HPDE and may have caught the bug)

Enkei HPF's... Cheap and great for the track. They sure are ugly though

For those of you who have not yet bought track wheels, here is a good thread. And BTW, I still have two Enkei NT03 wheels for sale at $150 each. Used Nitto NT01's at $75 each. PM if interested.

I am planning to purchase 18X9 Et35 TR TM1 for the front of E90 in the next two weeks, if I don't find any good used deals. Wish to run 245/35/18 for the front.

Suggestions?

Fikse? Kinesis? Champion Motorsports? these may be too expensive...my shop recommended CCW? here is what they look like...Apparently lots of the national champ level autocrossers in my region are using these:
How about LTW D-Force wheels? Many of our customers who take their cars to the track get these wheels. They come in 17 and 18"
With 18" they come as 18x9 and 18x10--the 18x9 is 18.0lbs and the 18x10 is 18.3 lbs.

taking out an old tread :-)

does an E92 have more space in front then an E90? I want to run 265 tracktires on 9x18 or 9.5x18 in front.
I tried 2 months ago, and 265 fitted with a 9x18 OZ Alleggerita offset40 with some spacers... just forgot how large they where, as I borrowed them just to try. Now I want to order some new rims 9x18 or 9.5x18 square, just am doubting about the offset. I want to have 4 equal rims, with the same offset so I can switch back and front.
Just not sure if front or back reaches offset limit first...
I was thinking about 9.5x18 ET35

(I run -2.8 degree camber in front), and below some pictures running 9x18 offset 40 in the back with 265 tracktires, 245 in the front on 8x18 offset 40 with 5mm spacers. looking at the pics, my back seems to be the limit

Digging up an old thread here..

From reading this post, it seems like a 9.5" wheel with ET30-33 and a 255 width tire should work in the front.. Given that you have about -2.0º camber. Anyone reading this the way I am?

Quote:
Originally Posted by sg335 View Post

It clears the coilovers as well and can be run as is. However, just to be safe, I installed 3mm spacers and it gives the extra safety margin room, even if you run 255's. So with the spacer, the OZ's offset becomes 37mm which clears the strut tube by a few mm and with -2 degrees camber in the front, there is about .75" or 19mm of clearence to the fender lip. You could even run a 5 or 10mm spacer if you have enough camber in the car.

Now my thoughts turn to custom wheels. Looks like those Fikse's in 9.0" ET35 may just be on the way .

The OZ Ultraleggera 9.0 ET40 wheel is also for sale, along with the Enkei, and this one has zero mileage on it! Same deal - Test pricing. Retails for about $340.00 with shipping, so $170.00 and buyer pays shipping. PM me if interested in either wheel. Will post pics after the holiday. If you want the tires, they are also brand new and will sell for half price of new.
