Mine works with CIP20 upgrade MP3 and WMA
Big sh*t eating grin. Mine works. Went in for CIP20 software upgrade today and it all came back working. I dont have a list of what they did and we had entered into a period of *ahem* dispute after i kind of  lost it in response to a "its not our fault" letter they sent me Christmas eve. Nobody said anything to me when i picked it up and i didnt ask. I was expecting the worst after what i read here.
I will test more fully but here is summary of what i saw on the way home Can now see DVD player as a valid drive for music (i havent tested yet but will) Front CD drive only plays MP3 and wont recognise wma files and gives truncated titles and directory structures. But it plays MP3 fine. Six disk changer in the rear plays everything including WMA, MP3 and shows full directories and looks very cool on the screen. There is a hard to describe but easy to use graphic way of playing MP3s and WMA and will show later in a pic. It may be my imagination but the throttle lag seems better too. Congratulations cdxp. Nice work.
There's hope for us all! Edit: I just rang my local dealership about what updates are on the CIP disk. They won't be able to tell me till next week they said. But they did say there would be a charge for installing it, if it wasn't a necessary update- about £150.

What kind of DVD's should I use?
After a four month wait, I'm taking delivery of my 325i E91 next week
It has the (euro) professional navigation, so I should be able to play MP3's from DVD. Can anyone tell me what kind of dvd discs will work? Any difference between +R -R etc? Will dual layer discs work? Would be nice as I can fit all my music on only 2 dvd's! |

A couple of questions for you. Did you try in the front CD and DVD drive ? Can you see the DVD drive now even if its greyed out on the menu ? I would think even if the 6 CD changer in the boot/trunk doesnt work the front two drives should. When i first put the MP3 disk in it took a while to get its act together and find and i guess read the index from the disk (especially in the boot/trunk) initially showing nothing. Wait for 2 minutes or so before you try anything else. Also burn a "simple" disk MP3s only just in the root directory for testing. WMA does not show at all in the front two drives. |

I think it is unusable, because BMW themself tried a MP3 which is working on post-September car and it works, it just dont work on mine... Anyway, I will try your method again and wait longer but I doubt so, BMW China must be doing something stupid! |
