The level indicator is insensitive to water/meth mixture. When it trips, there's still a good bit of fluid left as shown in the diagram above.

As for meth/water concentrations, there really isn't much reason to run straight meth unless u need it for fuel enrichment which is unlikely.

Could of been a coincidence but few months back my washer tank started leaking, and had to get it replaced. Was running 70/30 at the time.

I smell a new mod for one of you companies to make... for those of us that don't use our windshield sprayers, a custom WW Tank with foam and no leaks!

Get started!

I second this... and put the low level BMW sensor in it so you can plug it in there instead of the real washer sensor... that way we know when it gets low

Just a quick tidbit.. in all the WW pump leaks that I know of, all the users ran non-BMW WW fluid for a period of time. The glycol in those non-BMW fluids coat the grommet on the WW bump and, of time, cause them to lose seal with the WW tank. Ask any service adviser at a BMW dealership and they will tell you that WW pump replacement is probably the most common repair in any modern BMW. Which is why they recommend running BMW washer fluid and nothing else. Meth/water mixture has no glycol and should not inhibit the grommet's functionality over time. FWIW, I've been running high meth concentrations for the past 2 years and my WW hardware is over 6 years old. I can definitely say that I have only even filled up the tank with nothing other than BMW WW fluid and meth/water

Maybe BMW needs to redesign their windshield washer hardware.

nice to know, thanks Shiv. I would still be all for a separate tank for my meth content cuz I do use my washers in the summer, bugs get nasty! I wonder though if it could be a similar design just on the other side of the engine? That would be pretty sweet

Not much room to put a tank on the other side of the engine. Personally, I'll be using a 2+ gallon trunk mounted tank soon. But then again, my car goes through meth slightly quicker than most others

Hey Shiv, my WW tank gromments/pump recently failed. I did use a combo of Windex/Water when my tank was out of WW fluid before installing the PWM meth kit. I ran Windex/Water for a year with no issue. Since installation of the meth kit in June 2011, I was running straight boost juice until December 2011 when I switched to a higher concentration (75/25) of meth/water. Maybe it's just coincidence that my WW grommet/pump failure occured around the time I began increasing my meth ratio.

By the way...maybe a stupid question but is running 100% water in the PWM meth kit a bad idea? No I've never done this but theoretically the water will atomize and cool the intake charge a bit.

It's not necessarily bad. It will just result in a power loss. But the logs will look pretty

Huh. Ok I'm gonna try this if I'm bored. Why do you say the logs will look pretty? I guess I can try and see for myself

You'll see full advance all the time. Even running high boost. But water will be displacing fuel and air which will result in lower power output.

My tank was only filled with BMW WW fluid, always filled at BMW shop when serviced.

But putting that aside, when I brought the car to a local shop (non-dealer) to get the washer tank fixed the tech's were not surprised it was leaking, they indicated it was a common failure, in 335's and other BMW's.

In my 535 I went through more than twice as much winter washer fluid this season than my wife's E60 (had my meth out for the winter and cleaner in).

I couldn't find evidence of a leak but it seems odd I went through so much more fluid than she did and we drive ~equally.

+1

my WW tank has only ever had bmw fluid, and it leaks a decent amount. i'm not going to run meth, but it's noteworthy that WW fluid tank leaks are pretty common

My girlfriend's 325 (e90) has a leaky WW tank and she obviously has never run meth.

I'm confused about what settings should used when running the new firmware/maps with meth. Here is a quote from the directions included with the update:

"3) Incorporates Dynamic Methanol Injection Targeting logic. This means that the Injection Mode user adjustable value can now be set even closer (or even equal to) the maximum flow value. We recommend setting it 2-3 points lower than maximum meth flow (flow at 100% Methanol Injector DC)"

Whaaa? Which user adjusted setting is this? Hasn't it always been the case that it should be set at 25? Or can we now raise that to 97-98? I tried that and had no meth. Figured I must have misunderstood. Can you provide some clarification?

Meth flow varies depending on what you see during a datalog. That number you enter for injection mode will be in the 20s or 30s. You also have to change a few numbers for map 2 to get your meth kit working correctly.
