He turned in wayyyy too early with way to much speed, and there was no way he was going to stay on the road. Understeered right off. No way he could have saved it after that shitty turn in at that speed. Guy is a pos and the fact that he doesn't understand the ramifications of what he did is sad. Keep that shit on the track like a real man. Last edited by Black Gold; 06-10-2013 at 06:00 PM.. |

Definitely glad he is ok and alive..
But no one should be driving public roads that way... Especially around a blind corner.. Don't get me wrong, I drive an e92 m3 and it isn't like I drive it like a grandma... But like another member said, you reap what you sow. Just glad to see the driver walked away and is alive.

Thread title is misleading. I wouldn't exactly call that "driving."

I don't give a crap about your friend or the fact that his M3 is totaled. The only thing that kept going through my mind was "what if my wife was coming the opposite direction and he hit her head on".
What an imbecile. |

Pretty amazed that didn't result in long term injuries or death. But as has been said, if it had of turned into a fatality, I don't think he'd have got much sympathy. If it had turned into multiple fatalities.. well ...

I wish I could reply to everyone personally but 150+ notifications is a little much, so I will try to answer/address some of the most common concerns.
First off, thank you to all the positive and well wishing comments. I've passed them on to my friend. To the negative comments, you are entitled to your opinions. I agree with many saying he was pushing his car too hard. He has driven that road many times before and the group left around 5am to avoid contact with any cars/people that are not involved with us. In complete honesty I probably wouldn't be defending him if he was not my friend. However, we all make mistakes, some more severe than the other. We are thankful that this turned into a learning experience and as you can tell from the video and pictures he has learned his lesson the hard way. Quote:

Your post gave me a chill, because after reading it I thought to my self what if someones family was coming back from a camping trip, what then? It's something I don't like to think about; and although the possibility is there, we are glad it only ended in minor scratches. My friend learned his lesson. Quote:
These are on point Yup, Tortilla Flats.. Quote:
Why is your wife heading down a remotely deserted mountain backroad alone at 5am?

I am sincerely glad that he made it out of the car OK. More often than not, it's just the opposite.
This is the exact reason, I keep things really casual on the road. whew...scary, but thanks for sharing - this will actually help some folks tone it down.

Not cool.
How old are you and your friend? If you are over 20 you should not be allowed to drive, you drove off a freakin cliff and you are laughing because you didn't get hurt. Don't take anyone with you when you or your friend die one day because you haven't learnt anything. |
