Hi,

I've got a 2010 320i and am curious about the I and the tick? What is it exactly? Where is it? and what is it's significance??

Thanks.

It's the i on the nav screen, it's on the earlier models, basically without it you need a DVD to update the maps. on the later FW's the i has a tick next to it which means you're up to date for USB map updates. Far easier to do that way.

Good morning gents,

Newcomer on this forum.

The inquiry I'm after is related to the possibility of having the CIC software/firmware updated. The subject-matter vehicle is a 06/10 320d, E91.
Despite having managed to install the latest version of Europe maps (2020) - and the latest available update from bmw.com (UPD 0100008, or something) I have encountered issues after retrofitting a Combox Telematik BN2000 instead of the TCU most 1.5 the car initially came with, e.g. currently I cannot activate bluetooth, or BMW apps, or Internet for that matter.
I think it is worth mentioning that the Online and Internet features DO appear under BMW Services (no Connected Drive, hence a signal of an older software version of the CIC, maybe), however for BMW Online I'd have to provide login credentials, user/password. The "update BMW services" feature is currently greyed-out.
Adding to my frustration of being obliged to hear the radio only, the MEDIA module is not responding to any of my attempts to write the necessary items in order to activate the needed features (the IFH-0009 thing...)
Apologize for the rather long post but I would appreciate any hints that might point me towards positively addressing of the above described issues.

The cic will need to be c16 or c1a. (for best results).

If you load c16 you wont need the fsc, if you load c1a you will need the fsc code for the aps etc

the IFH-0009 is a failure to "see" the module.

Does the combox appear in the UIF list, if yes then also firmware update this, (you need a icom, do not do it with a d-kcan lead, it will fail and brick the combox (believe me I know).

If the combox is not seen in the uif, try loading tool32 and see if you can interrogate it., it could be that the combox is bricked or faulty.

it is the correct type for the car a bn2000 (and not an f series bn2010 unit)

you will need a icom to update the cic.

You should be able to change the date regardless of whet version you are running tbh

Does that mean if you map update asks for a code, then your code level is C1A? Thus the latest level?

No...

When you update the maps (via usb), then this only updates the maps inside the cic, it does not update the firmware thats running on the cic.

Imagine that the cic is a computer running windows 7 and that the map is "word" is running 2020.

Updating "word" to 2022 does not update windows to windows 10.

They are two separate things.

To upgrade the maps you use a usb and a FSC code, takes approx 20min thats it.

To Upgrade the cic firmware, you need in icom and the flash files, this takes approx 2 hours.
