Just posted this link on another thread, but this is a great website showing what happens at the VPC:
http://offworld.com/e46/images.html It's a wonder that these cars can be processed in a few days when they've got all this stuff happening to them. |

I'll preface this with... Yes, I am bored at work today.
So messing with Google Maps, if you do a business search near the dock the Courage was at yesterday and search for "BMW" it shows an office just down the road. I'm guessing this is the VPC because there are a bunch of cars in a very large lot and several longer trucks that look like car carriers. So this most likely means that anyone that was getting off in NY is probably already off the ship (lucky bastards) and on their way to being processed. Here's a link to the spot in Google Maps... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=e...7&iwloc=A&om=0 |

The first stop is Jersey City, where the BMW VPC is located. The second (where the Courage is now) is a dock for containers, etc.
Means that my car is off the boat! However, it looks like damage is pretty common, so we'll see. A member from Wisconsin whose car was on the Othello, which arrived at the VPC on 11/30, is receiving his car on 12/8, so it looks like turnaround can be pretty quick. Here's another "What goes on at the VPC" link: http://www.edbmw.com/blog/2006/12/22...m-the-factory/ |

where are you tracking it so that you can see different updates rather than through the owners circle on bmwusa.com?? my dealer told me yesterday that the courage got into port on the 3rd like they had originally said but no new info and i'm getting way anxious!!!

Eh I'm lazy and just cut and paste it from a text file on my desktop. One of the reps on the BMW customer service line asked me the other day if I had memorized my production number. I told him yes. Now I don't feel so bad since I think memorizing the VIN is slightly worse

Do you know which port you're going to? Charleston or NY/NJ?

im going into NYC - or should i say - i should already be there. but priority one cars should be processed the fastest and there is just no new info. i was planning on getting this car for the 10th they promised me.. when i called customer relations the automated system gave me older info than the website.

Well unfortuantely all you can do is wait. The point from which your car is dropped off by the ship until it reaches the dealer is somewhat of a black box. I don't believe there is any way to get updates during this time other than what your CA can tell you. Several people have reported taking delivery 5-7 days after the car has been off loaded from the ship. I would say that the 10th for you is a definite possibility.
