Place I brought it the other day said it didn't look like you needed to drop the subframe. Is it because you have to pull it back to get it off the driveshaft? That's about the only way it looks like it would make you.

Well, it looks like some of U got some spare time now between the holidays to look through the forums and discovered this lil thread of mine.
So I replied another set of PMs today and decided to leave the GB open for a few more days/weeks (lets say 2 weeks) to enable the late-comers to catch on.

Happy New Year to everyone, dudes, it's been my pleasure

PS: Pls let me know about your progress, share the info etc. Post in this thread or PM me. Or do I have to ask Kevin about the status of my "friends" in his discounted offer? C'mon...

What were people saying about fluid? Not to use the friction reducing ones or to use them? Or just re use the stock fluid.

Don't use oil with added friction reducers or 'modifiers' as they are also called. Birds recommends the stock BMW diff. oil for the 335i (which i'm using and bought from my dealer) or Mobil VS600 or other similar synthetic diff. oils without friction reducers/modifiers.

Bleg I emailed him today to see if we can work something out as my diff is welded, though it was produced early February. Which is crap. I don't understand why quaife does not produce new ring gears, it should be easy for them and thats all you would need.

So, anyone from US got their WELDED diff swapped with "Bird's" Quaife?
How much did you end up paying after everything?

That is something I'd like to know myself? How much can we expect to pay for labor and what in involved in doing this conversion if you have the welded diff?

Decent shop will charge around $70-100 / hour labor
To swap the whole "pumpkin" (entire housing with quaife diff) is about 3-4hr job
$300-400 is probably good estimate

Same question I have! If the unit costs $2400 and shipping is another $500 that is still a good chunk cheaper than any other solution.

But if things get screwed up in customs that will be a big bummer.

mm shipping is 400 FROM the UK, that doesn't include your shipping back or customs :/

I know there's an american solution in the works but I don't know when, if for sure, or how much it will be.

There will be late commers like me so please keep it open judec. Also, thank you for the time and effort you have put into this.

I definetely would like to see a review, more details, costs and the overall expirence of swaping out our differential for an LSD this way. I am sure there are many more people waiting on the sidelines to jump into this opportunity when there is more info out there.
