Oh, it's a neverending story...

Replaced valve cover gasket and PCV valve to fix crazy oil consumption - no luck, valve cover itself is broken.
Replaced valve cover - one of the coils started misfiring.
Replaced coils - top radiator hose started leaking.

I'm gonna address that tomorrow, together with oil filter housing gaskets, but it won't be long before something new comes

Watched the battery drain in 4 hours

2008 328i that has a severe battery drain. Will drain the battery in 3-4 hours. ECU shuts down and goes to sleep in 15-20 minutes but the water pump keeps running. No fault codes and the battery is new.

I had a similar experience. Lessons learned on my end - I tried to cheap out and do just the gaskets. Won’t make that mistake again. Also, my 100k coils started dying one by one when I was moving them around a bunch in the process. Said F it and bought all new. Needed the pain to stop.

You’ll get there! I def felt like throwing a spanner in the works. Ugh

Ibs? Or bsd. Unhooking the battery should cut waterpump. I would check battery health tho

Waiting for the police report. Should be ready by Friday. And I’m hoping I receive a call from the police, telling me the owner is cooperating. And is willing to repair my E90. I’m praying, and my fingers are crossed.

That’s a hit and run isn’t? Pretty serious, I’m sure they’ll cooperate.

Just had this issue with my E61 530i; It was the water pump(Was running/cycling whenever it had power). PO installed a new(OEM) one a year and a bit before and I'm sure that why he got rid of the car cheap.

Try unplugging the water pump, have it sit for a while or overnight and then try again in the morning. If the car has power and starts up like normal; You gotta replace the pump again

While doing the Stage 3 manifold swap last weekend I noticed that my engine bay had gotten really dirty so while washing it this weekend I gave the engine a good detail.

I seem to recall a recent thread where the OP figured out it was in the DME.
mosfet had failed and was keeping the pump on.

there was a great deal of tech in there.
I can't remember the title or poster, but gbalthrop was in there with wiring diagrams.

might be worth finding so you can test some things before you go all in on pump.

Picked up my accident report today. Officer said, the driver of the other vehicle said she didn't realize she hit my car. Report says that my car has paint transfer from the vehicle that struck me. Also, the damage from her vehicle, is consistent with the damage on my vehicle. Officer said if the insurance company has any questions, they could contact him.

Installed German Auto Solution Monoball front thrust arm bushings. These seems eerily similar to the Dinan units @ less than half cost. Sold.

So easy! Wish I had done it sooner. The car feels like a real car with real steering that goes where I place it. Huh, Imagine that. Braking feels much more precise, too. Definitely some NVH, but not much. Surprisingly little. We'll see if the wife notices. Makes sense as there is still rubber in the shock tower with the strut top mount. Maybe if you went with camber plates the NVH would go up quite a bit more.

I figured for not much more than M3 arms I'd just go whole-hog as there are so many good reviews of these on BMWs and Mercedes. Super happy I did.

https://germanautosolutions.com/stor...-m3-monoballs/

I used their install tool. Took about 30 minutes per side with arms attached to the car.

Those look great! Wish they made some for X-drive cars...

Any chance I could borrow/rent the removal tool from you? I have some poly bushings I want to try.

Took my belt out to investigate a persistent, albeit, only slightly noticeable whine. Carmax, who sold me the car had replaced the alternator and power steering pump (on their dime) in response to my initial whine complaint.

Is it correct that if the idler pulley spins very freely (belt off), then its time for a new one? I seem to remember that from my E46.
