of course we all know butkus was mental.. he was the best. I'm not saying Urlacher is BETTER, I'm just saying he's still on the HOF all time cherished Chicago Bears level. Nobody will ever be as mental as Butkus... Singletary wasn't, but he was great because of how smart he played. Urlacher is a VERY smart LB which is why he's succeeded. He hits hard, not on the Butkus or Ray Lewis level but pretty damn close.

You don't just throw away players like that. Just like how the Sox ditched Thome... its such a crap move. Let the guy play out his years here with his team. Thome wasn't hot or the Thome of old but he still hit HR's and was a solid DH. If Urlacher isn't performing better than the guy behind him then yes, he shouldn't play as much but last time I checked Brian was miles ahead of Hunter Hillenmeyer or Nick Roach.
you were never alive to me

just cause hes great doesnt mean hes expendable. sure no one on the bears except briggs can play on his level but the bears havent been looking cause theyve been solid at that spot for awhile. now is the time to take a second look and see what they can get.

RESPECT YOUR ELDERS SON!

I say take Brooks for a 1 yr deal to replace him and call it a day. Hopefully Urlacher comes back next season with a huge fucking chip on his shoulder smelling blood.

Well, I agree with you there. I don't dislike Urlacher or even think he is sub par. I just think that he is and was overrated...well maybe now he is appropriately rated. That is not bad. It just says that the perception is greater than reality and that perception was that he was ridiculous. He was ridiculous because of Washington and the other gigantor fat guy in front of him. If he had that type of scheme his whole career then maybe he would be a transcendant player. But that is just it, transcendant players are great no matter what. I think Jordan was an egomaniacal jack ass who got suspended for gambling for a year but there is no doubt that he was always great, even when his supporting cast wasn't.

That doesn't mean I hate the Bears or even Urlacher. Riddle me this though, if cutting Urlacher meant the difference between resigning Cutler or not (last nite notwithstanding) would you do it? All I am saying is if the Bears can make themselves better by shedding him, then they should - but they won't.

Yea hopefully he won't want a kings ransom and we just sign him. What's he gonna do sit at home and not play for a super bowl contender.

Life is good

I am sitting on my patio, awaiting a call to see how much fixing my hood will be (tomorrow AM)/bimmer in the gheyrage/sipping on a glass of wine/wheels coming Thurs/tints Wed maybe?/Kyles castoffs Friday/ on an absolutely perfect evening debating Urlacher's relative value (high second round pick in trade).

no way. I wish we still had Orton. He was coming along well and his attitude was just what I would want in a QB. Cutler has a huge arm but he also has a huge ego and is a cry baby. Even though he didn't say anything last night, I could see it in his face on the bench.

No question I'd take Urlacher over Cutler any day. If you said Urlacher for Drew Brees or Randy Moss... now we're talkin.

Wow, you had Urlacher and Orton last year and didn't make the playoffs. Orton has a great attitude, he just can't throw the football. That is a bad thing in the NFL. Note the underthrown into triple coverage pass of the century yesterday.

Cutler is a crybaby...I don't care as long as he wins games. Last nite not so hot.

You are drinking too much kool aid. In today's NFL, you can play without a franchise MLB, but you need a top flight QB. Warner/Rothlesberger/Manning/Brady. Without looking it up, name me the four MLB's.

1. Big Ben Blows
2. You can score all you want but if you keep giving up points on D... especially in the running game, the game just keeps going back to 0-0. Defense wins championships buddy and your MLB is your Defensive QB. I think you have just as good or poor of a chance winning with/without a top QB as a top MLB.

In the last 10 years there have been only two teams to win the Superbowl without a high end quarterback 03 Bucs, 01 Ravens. Both had outstanding TEAM defenses. You could argue Ben's first trip to the big game, but that defense was also superior.

At any rate, onto a real topic, you mentioned picking up a new hood for $599? Where?

haha, thats true however guys like Big Ben, Tom Brady, Eli Manning... all good examples of guys who now are "superstar" QB's but were nobodies before they won the big one.

PM Eurokoncepts for the hood, they are local

Have you ever seen what Nietzsche or Tatum did to people? It's amazing what people got away with in the pre-pussy era of football.... It made it that much easier for a defensive player to establish some sort of dominance. Nowadays, you get flagged if you breathe on anyone who makes more than $1M/yr.

That being said, Urlacher is a great athelete and has played through injury lately. However, any HOF talk or comparisons to the greats in history is unwarranted and unearned.

And I know a lot about football. I'm guaranteed to get to watch an NFL team put on a clinic every week.
