Looked at my car this morning as I got in my wife's Honda Pilot and drove it to the shop to do some work. (I am furloughed but the boss let me come in for personal work)
Control arm bushings Water pump and timing belt Fixed a leaky tire Oil service Spark plugs Intake air filter Cabin air filter New headlights because the mounts were busted when we got it. Found out after pulling the bumper that the brackets were broken also. Gotta finish up tomorrow. Then I will have time to get back to my car and install my intercooler and vacuum hoses. |

I just swapped the switch assembly from my 2006 325i to my 2011 328xi to get back the "Open to Vent" one touch functionality. It's one thing about the LCI update, other than aesthetics (just the deck lid brake lights, really), that drove me nuts. In my 2006 I could have my sunroof open all the way, and when I was getting close to home, I could push the button up once (one touch) and it would close, and then open to the vent position without me having to do anything else. In my 2011, it wouldn't do it. It would go from Vent to Open via 1-Touch, but not Open to Vent. Now it works both ways. If anyone else was missing this feature, get yourself a Pre-LCI sunroof switch assembly/dome light and swap it in. Good to go.
I also update my Nav Maps to 2020-1 from 2010. So that's pretty nice, too. The other day I installed a new-to-me Heated Sport Steering Wheel with paddle shifters. My old wheel was the base steering wheel and only had heat. And I got the notification today that MotiveMods has shipped my paddle shifter buttons and harness, so that's next weekends project (the Sport Steering Wheel will have to come out for that, but it's actually really easy and took less than 10 minutes start to finish to do the swap the first time). I need to do this on the driver's side rear door. I'm a little hesitant. I'm sure it would take me longer than 30 mins. I've watched a few videos, but haven't pulled the trigger. Any pro tips?

•Installed my CSL style trunk lip
•Noticed I have yet another oil leak (which isn't necessarily good considering the oil I use can't be sourced locally, and I'm 1qt low now..) anyone know where oil could be coming from? Replaced my OFHG last month along with an oil change. The oil is on the bottom of the oil pan, but not surrounding the drain bolt. The oil level sensor also appears to be fairly wet.

Second, have a some kind of razor blade to cut sealant on the foam door barrier. The only things to unplug to get the door panel off are the elec connector to the window button, the elec connector to the door lock, and the interior door handle cable. Make sure to unhook the interior door cable from the door lock and take off the little metal door lock rod. It pulls straight out. It will take a little force but it will pop out (it will snap into the new one as well). The only other items to remove from the door lock is the wiring to the window (2 tabs) and the cable from the outer door handle. You can look inside the door and see it on the back side of the lock. it literally pops in and out of place...just line up the grooves. Take the 3 black torx screws off and maneuver it out. Install in reverse order. Only pro tip to offer is make sure to take your 3 torx screws and thread them into the new door lock while it is out of the car. You have to self tap the holes with the existing screws. Much harder when you're trying to thread them and hold the lock in place. Hope that all made sense lol https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DV8JY2W...ing=UTF8&psc=1 Last edited by nerovega; 04-08-2020 at 10:01 AM.. Reason: link to part |

Thanks! I removed the paint that was peeling in the area. I did not do both sides. Luckily the passengers side is holding up. It blended well enough. I've heard it doesn't last too long in direct sunlight, so hopefully it will hold up through this summer. I need to spruce up all the plastics as well. I was thinking about going with chemical guys products for that. Anyone wanna chime in?
