Went on my annual Rosé gathering mission this past weekend. Found some new stuff to try out this year along with the normal faves.

Wasn't sure if I could get away with this and I wasn't the only one who wanted this shot. Another guy wanted it but only had a small P/S.

I was chasing a train in the Feather River Canyon and stumbled upon this. According to the Plumas County News, pilot and passenger walked away. Amazing that this plane set down where it did and the pilot and passenger were uninjured. Near Indian Springs California.

Wow, how does that landing happen? Was that a float plane that ran out of water?

Nope, jut a garden variety Cesna. I couldn't find any details, but it looks like they just lost power over the mountains and had to put it down, and the river bed was the best spot in the wilderness to do it.

That's a pretty bird.
First you get more lens then you figure out you need a better body so you can actually focus on it. Then you realize you need the better quality longer lens. A slippery slope. |

A very unfortunate but true statement! I have been holding off on a longer lens to see what Sony or third party vendors bring to the show. A new Sony 400mm f2.8 is on the way, but will certainly be outside of what I'm willing to pay for a lens until I have more time to spend on photograph (currently a weekend hobby). I may trade in my 70-200MM for the Sony 100-400mm to hold me over until something better comes along. I know Dave gets fantastic results with his set-up.

Stage 3 seems to be the steepest slope! As you can see from my discussion above, it's a much more difficult decision for me. For my long lens needs (more of a want than a need ), I'm still holding out for native Sony mount lenses even though most of the adapted Canon long lenses work relatively well on the A7RII. Nikon lens don't work well on the Sony which is unfortunate since they have some of the best and most innovative long lenses. The slope is steep, but my wife agrees - - - there are worse vices in life! - |

The 400 2.8 is aimed at sports sideline shooters. They are normally too big and heavy to use for BIF. Sony really needs a 500 f4 for their system, but I haven't read anything about one in development. I also use the Sony 100-400 with very good results, and with the 1.4 TC you get a 560mm f8 lens, which works very well.

I tried to make my own Black&Bleu salad at home. Even though I overcooked the tri tip a bit, it came out pretty good.
